Training for Life

I've struggled with my weight as long as I can remember. In high school and the first half of college, I was overweight/borderline obese. Since then, I've managed to gain a little bit of control, but I doubt this is every something that will come easily to me.

I became a mom in February! I also gained 50 lbs in the nine months leading up to that. I'm now at/below my pre-pregnancy weight, and trying to drop a few more before I go into maintenance mode. I think I'll likely have to ...

I became a mom in February! I also gained 50 lbs in the nine months leading up to that. I'm now at/below my pre-pregnancy weight, and trying to drop a few more before I go into maintenance mode. I think I'll likely have to track my calories for years before I get the hang of all of this. It's totally worth it though, especially if I can be a good role model for my daughter. I'm hoping that all this comes a little more naturally to her, though, and that she never has to struggle with her weight and body image the way I have.

***
Update: I'm about 10 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight, and trying to transition into maintenance. I still don't really know where a happy weight for me is, so even though I though I'd maintain at 145, my body seems to want to keep dropping the weight. That's cool. I'm going to keep tracking my food and just roll with it :)

Just wanted to say thanks again for the kind words & reminding me that losing the baby weight isn't a race. You've done an amazing job and have made it look easy (tho I know it hasn't been). I won't be a stranger. Promise.

I worked FT while my husband was a SAHD and it was hard to wake up to be a mom, go to work then come home to kids instantly jumping on me (yes it was sweet they missed me but not having any transition time was tough) so my husband and I decided when I walk through the door I give hugs and kisses to all of the kids and then tell them Im going to shower and change and when I came out we would have time together .. it helped alot!! I worked about 2 or so miles from where I lived so during Summer (some of Spring and Fall too) I would walk there and back. It gave me 4+ miles a day and it was a nice transition listening to my iPod and stretching my legs, a perfect unwind after work too!! You have to figure out time for you or you will burn out! I totally did and it wasnt pretty ..I let mine go on for too long and I went to an extreme. Im not saying you would do the same (its just my personality) but everyone burns out in their own way.

That sounds great! Im as vegan as possible and have been switching over most of the kids food to vegetarian. I buy the MorningStar Corn Dogs, the Smart Dogs, the Smart Ground and the Chicken Strips that are breaded in WG all vegan but the kids havent even noticed yet lol I also switch waffles over to the Vans Organic Blueberry Waffles and am buying Organic Coombs Syrup, they love them :) Theyve been eating Veganaise and Earth Balance (Mayo and Butter) and for oils Ive been using Coconut Oil, for salt Ive been using Himalayan Salt .. the kids havent noticed any of it lol Theyve been eating WW products for a long time now so its nothing new and cereal was switched over to Fiber One (Chocolate), Rice Krispies, Chex, Kix and Cheerios .. they havent complained about that.

Ive been going to the gym and now that its nicer Im able to walk to the store so Ive been getting about 3 hours in a day 4-5 days a week. Im not even stepping on the scale because it can easliy wreck my day .. Ive just been going off of how my clothes fit and how I feel emoticon
