One of my favorite photos with my husband, 100th anniversary of the Titanic

Before. Happily together with my boy for 12 years.

Renaissance Faire, Before. When I think of my "after" photos, I want to recreate this shot.

Time for Some Thrillin' Heroics

I'm just your average geeky, rainbow-haired, home-cheffing, happily married art director starting my journey over yet again. But every try at anything fails until one doesn't, so here we go again!!

I love to cook, so this is the basis of my program. I've learned that through careful measuring I can make healthy options that conform to the guidelines set by Spark and don't taste like sacrifice and sadness. It helps that I have a partner who will eat anything I put in front of him. ...

The boy and I are adopting a philosophy of moderation, choosing whole foods over the gimmicky and chemical-laden "light" and "diet" foods. We should be excited to eat every calorie!! While he doesn't have the pounds to lose that I do, he''s getting in shape too, and this is the first time we've truly worked *together* on our health. So far we're both going strong and super optimistic! Is this the time time I make it happen?

My Goals:
100 WEEKS OF HEALTHY.
My brain likes deadlines, not long, open-ended projects. So we've got a goal, and we're counting down from 100 weeks. That should be enough time to make this a lifestyle change, right?

Eat well, feel good, live longer. Period. I believe strongly in health at any size, but I'm not starting from a healthy place. I'm getting there a little more every day, and I will eventually be a healthy big girl. I'll probably never be tiny. But I can be strong, I can be healthy.

My Program:
LOSING WEIGHT WHILE EATING GREAT

1. Never stop measuring. Tracking food is key.

2. Eat what tastes good. Keep it natural with whole, unprocessed foods. I don't like artificial sweeteners or the chemicals used in many "light" or "fat free" products. That means real cheese, full fat yogurt, etc. MODERATION.

3. Cook at home.
I have control over what I make, from portions to ingredients. It just makes sense.

4. Every little bit counts.
10 minutes of exercise is better than none. A short walk is better than nothing.

5. Every day is a new day, every week a new week. Don't sweat a bad day, a bad week. Just pick back up where we left off.

Personal Information:
I'm 37 and scoff at the idea of "acting my age". I live in Chicagoland with my amazing husband of 10 years and our four lovable cats. We love traveling, gaming, cooking, and eating good food. Life is good!!

emoticon for the blog comment! We were definitely part of the Inferno crowd--my fella and I actually met there in 1999 and had both been going there since it opened, too. We were actually able to get tickets to the last night party (plus attended the impromptu last, last party the week following), so that was good. So good to see so many old faces there, it will be missed! There is really nothing like it anywhere else in Madison, and the north side (where we live) doesn't have much going on anyhow.

I take it you and your fella used to live in Madison? For how long? We're about the same age, so it's pretty likely that we know some of the same people!

Hey, thanks for the comment on my page! I'm from the Nashville area. Other than leaving for a few years for school, I've lived here my whole life. I love it!
