Stay within 1200-1550 calories a day. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. Work out 6 times a week for 30-60 mins. Walk more. Eat less bread and processed foods.
I'm 28 from SLC, Utah.
1. Vegetarians are, on average, up to 20 pounds lighter than meat-eaters. And unlike unhealthy fad diets, which leave you feeling tired (and gaining all the weight back eventually), going vegetarian is the healthy way to keep the excess fat off for good while feeling full of energy.
2. Vegetarians are less likely to develop heart disease, cancer, diabetes, or high blood pressure than meat-eaters. Vegetarians get all the nutrients they need to be healthy (e.g., plant protein, fiber, minerals, etc.) without all the nasty stuff in meat like cholesterol and saturated animal fat.
3. Meat is often contaminated with feces, blood, and other bodily fluids, all of which make animal products the top source of food poisoning in the U.S.
4. It takes tons of crops and water to raise farmed animals-in fact, it takes up to 16 pounds of grain to produce just 1 pound of animal flesh! All that plant food could be used much more efficiently if it was fed to people directly.

How do you like teaching in China? Did they provide you and your husband a place to live, too? That's so inspiring! The Peace Corps might be in our future, but just to get away from here for awhile, we're hopefully going to spend a week in Florida around New Years!

As for my weight loss, I went from 138 to now 127 just by tracking everything and staying at around 1200-1400 calories on most days. I also run, which really gets those calories burned fast! I had increased to doing about 5 miles with no problem at all. I'm sure that got things moving!! Just pump up the cardio, and limit fattening foods.

Hi!! I just thought I'd write you a message since you mentioned your parents are from SLC. I took a HUGE interest in Mormonism when I lived there. Not to join or anything, but because I could not believe that everyone bought into the story of Joseph Smith! So I've done a lot of reading on it. But like I said, I'm now pretty critical of Christianity. Do your parents still think you're Mormon?
Anyways, we are also both aiming for 125 pounds, both in our 20's and married, and both vegetarian! Feel free to let me know how you're doing on your Spark Program!
