I have been on a "better me" journey for probably 10 or more years now. I only had about 40 lbs to lose, but it has been a long process. I started out eating highly processed junk and not much of it. On this journey I have learned the importance of nourishing my body and exercising it as well. I am legally blind, so the exercise part has not always been easy. Exercise videos and my treadmill are my Godsend. I have just a few pounds to go to finally be at my goal weight, but am totally ...
I have just a few pounds to go to finally be at my goal weight, but am totally happy with the transformation I have made. Slow and steady does win the race. It has taken me a long time to embrace the bad days as a learning experience. In fact, I still let them beat me up occassionally. But then God reminds me to get up and keep going in His strength. Without a personal relationship with Christ, I would never have accomplished all of this, and I totally would have let my eyesight be an excuse to just quit. He sacrificed His life for me. The least I can do is take care of my body to be able to better serve Him.
John 3:16

My Goals:
I had foot surgery in Dec., and have not yet been cleared by the doc to start working out again. I have been trying to do some upper body resistance in the meantime. I really miss jogging on my treadmill. My goal is to get back up to 5 miles at least a couple times a week. My son and I also joined Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping 10 week program. It starts Apr. 6th. My goal is to shed my last 9 lbs and start maintenance by summer's end. That is when I plan to have my other foot fixed.

My Program:
I have done P90X several times, and also P90X Plus. I started Insanity but never completed the whole program. I started Body Combat just before my surgery. I have 5 Bob Harper workouts, and have also done a few of Jillian's. I love to mix it up and do different workouts. I get kinda bored with the same program day in and day out. They are all great workouts for someone who is homebound. Also, great for someone who doesn't really know where to start.

Personal Information:
I have lived in Nebraska all of my life. Never even went on a vacation outside of Nebraska until I married the love of my life. I am a legally blind mother with a progressive blindness. I have always tried to teach my children that no matter what comes your way in life, you can overcome it as long as you keep the right attitude. Feeling sorry for yourself and giving up is not an option. Especially for me. I have a Saviour that died on the cross to save my soul. The least I can do is use my disability to let His "light" shine. Taking care of my body is just a small part of that. Encouraging others is another part. I eventually hope to learn enough about the ins and outs of nutrition so that I can help other disabled individuals without resources or finances, to meet their health goals.
