My Weight Loss Journey

I've decided that if I lose 15 pounds in 2014, I will reward myself with a subscription to People Magazine and if I don't lose 15 pounds, I'll hire a personal trainer. And, I will fit into the brand new size 18 jeans I've had for two years!

INFO about me...

I am 54 years old and I started at 264 pounds in 1998 and have been trying to get down to 150 pounds since then.

I have rheumatoid autoimmune disease, which sometimes makes it difficult to exercise, ...

INFO about me...

I am 54 years old and I started at 264 pounds in 1998 and have been trying to get down to 150 pounds since then.

I have rheumatoid autoimmune disease, which sometimes makes it difficult to exercise, but in 2009, I exercised 253 days and in 2010, I exercised 344 days! Now some of those days were only 10 or 15-minute exercise sessions but the point is that exercise is doable even when you're sore and most of the time, it actually makes me feel better!

Unfortunately, I gained 6 pounds other the course of the year.

And, then in 2011, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my knees and wasn’t able to do as much exercise as I did in the past two years. But, I did some physio on my knees and by the end of 2011, I was exercising more days than not even with some kickboxing. Woohoo!

I exercised a total of 144 days for the whole year and lost the 6 pounds that I gained in 2010. I did that with a combination of Weight Watchers at the beginning of the year and with the support of the Awesome A Team on the 5% Challenges on SparkPeople in the latter part of year. And, I only gained 1 pound over the Christmas holidays with their help as well!

In 2012, I found the BLC challenges and my wonderful Amazon Warriors team and with their help, I lost another 11 pounds from September 2012 to April 2013, which puts me at my lowest weight since 2008!

In 2013, I exercised 325 days and lost 11 pounds.

To follow the SparkPeople program.

To exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes a day 5 times a week incorporating strength-training along with cardio.

To drink 6 cups of water a day.

To limit junk food/bad fats.

Personal Information:
I live in Ontario, Canada with my husband, named Jake and my cat, named Ogoni. I have no kids by choice but 11 nieces and nephews, whom I love and spoil. My birthday is May 12, 1960 and I've been married to Jake since March 24, 1984.

I'm an Administrative Secretary for our local municipal government. I work in the section where our guys repair watermains and sewers and I'm the only woman in our section and I LOVE it!

Good morning, Joanna. I hope that you're having a good day. I have to tell you that I truly feel that I have to quit posting in the challenges on the RA team. It's embarrassing that it's just the two of us and even more embarrassing that I keep gaining. I was 180 this morning. What's wrong with me?! It's like I don't care, but I know that I do. It's just so tough to exercise with this sore OA knee and with my other RA soreness. I keep plugging along though and hopefully something will click. In the meantime though, I'll bow out of the weigh-in and fitness challenges. I hope that you understand. Hugs to you, Karen

Thanks a bunch for the smiley face goodie, Joanna! LOL at you being the grammar police! Well, when I notice something is wrong like that, it does stick out like a sore thumb to me. I 'did' wonder whether I had used the right spelling for 'practise'! - it always gets me, and is one of those words that I can never write 'unconsciously'......

And - 200 fitness DVDs - WOW! I am SURE you'll be able to work out a plan. DO IT.
