My Spark journey started in 2011 at that time I was a 36 yr old mom of 3 boys, 16..13..and 5..
And if you couldn't tell by my page a bit of a geek. I love Doctor Who.
Currently in 2016: I am now 41 and a mom to 4 boys (21,18,11 and my youngest son is 2 1/2) I have gained more than just another kid in my 4 year hiatus, my last time on Sparkpeople was in 2012. I have also gained more weight. But one step at a time, one day at a time. Time to hold myself accountable.
This time around I have started at my highest weight(see below for details). I have had success before with this site, I did loose 40lbs working out and cutting calories, but then I get complacent and go back to my bad habits. So I am really trying to completely change my lifestyle this time.
I was placed on a low carb or Keto Diet by my doctor, because I was diagnosed pre diabetic. I was also placed on Metformin, that is when I knew I had to make changes to be here for myself and my family. I eat a very low carb diet. no more than 35 net carbs a day. More like 20 or less 90% of the time. I have never felt better in my life and have made great weight loss strides in two month. I love to make friends and bond with people who are here for the long haul and have issues similar to mine.
I joined SP to get motivation in loosing weight. Both myself and my husband are overweight. The difference is he loves food and I hate it. I would not eat if I could, but I know that that is not the healthy way. I have said before that I am the only anorexic fat person I know. That has changed with my new lifestyle, I now eat more healthy than I ever have. I do enjoy the occasional treat, with in my low carb lifestyle of course. Atkins recipes are some of my favorites.
I have been a yo yo dieter almost all of my life. I have tried starvation, eating every 90 min, exercising exclusively (a little obsessively I might add), and cutting calories. None has worked because they were not healthy or not a real lifestyle I could maintain. I was in a car accident in 2009 which left me disabled. I want to prove to myself that I can do this. I want to set small achievable goals. But the big one is to loose 100 to 150 lbs.

I am here for me to be healthy. I need to loose 150 total pounds according to the doctors. But I think I would be happy with 100.
I am going to start slow. I will be active, doing more than I did yesterday.
I was born in Topeka, KS..but I think of home as Washington State. I have lived here for 32 years. I am a mom of 4 wonderful boys. Moved a few times in the last 5 years. Living in sunny NV, where you can not go outside in the summer.
I am happy to have found SparkPeople. I look forward to my journey here. You are a wonderful community of very supportive people and I am glad to have you!
