3/26/11- Oh Lawd how did THIS happen? I didn't even know there WAS a "motivator of the day" Don't quite know who to thank for this! I just logged on and there it was! What a terrific surprise! Thank you so much! Spark guy? Spark people? Fellow spark friends?? Thank you whoever!

I'm a professional vocalist and I was horrified when I saw a video clip of myself. That was what prompted me to get on spark people 7 years ago. I was successful in losing almost 40 lbs- but then it got to the point where spark people was taking over my 4 hours a day! Add that to the fact that 4 years ago my career in music took off and I ended up being nominated for several music and blues awards and the diet went to the wayside. I gained back the 40 and then some. A few weeks ago I was on vacation and all of a sudden started feeling like my heart was pumping faster and harder then it should have been for the easy shopping we were doing. I stopped in a walgreens and got my blood pressure taken and it was 172/116!

If that isn't a wake up call I don't know what is. But I can tell you this. When you have a BP monitor and you know that eating something crappy will cause it to rise. You seriously are help much more accountable than if you want to lose for vanity's sake.

Yeah I still want to lose to look good.. but I also DONT want to see myself have to take BP meds or become diabetic because I was an undisciplined slacker. So I am back..down three pounds and this morning my blood pressure was 135/85 (June 28, 2016)

I can do this. I am going to do this. And it took a health scare to motivate me cuz I am hard headed like that- but better late and scary than never.

My Goals:
Overall I want to lose 90 pounds! I also want to be able to incorporate choreography into my singing without having to gasp for breath...Oh an I am challenging my 75 year old dad to lose weight so I need to set a good example for him!

My Program:
an Average of 5000 stape per day ( or comparable exercise) Looking for a total of 5 hours exercise weekly.
Roughly 1500 calories a day with a range of 1400 to 1800 being acceptable.:
50% from complex carb
25% from "healthy" fat and lean protein
Under 2000 mg sodium
limiting alcohol to no more than 4 drinks per week, And trying to stay away from sugary mixed drinks in favor of wine when I do imbibe
CUTTING OUT PROCESSED FOOD AND CHEMICALS! ( with a few "treats" as an exception) That means
ORGANIC produce for anything I don't peel to eat
NO WHEAT anything ( that isn't certified organic) They spray it with roundup to get a bigger crop just before harvest and that stuff is one of the most deadly chemicals on earth. We are eating it in almost EVERY grain based product that isn't organic.
NO meat that has received sterioids, antibiotics, hormones or cruel treatment.
No SODAS... only limited coffee and organic juices, unlimited water, and sometimes lemonade

I have always been a slender person until i got married. My lifestyle changed significantly at that point. I was travelling because my then fiancee lived on the west coast and I on east so the time I spent exercising dwindled to nothing. I also stopped singing 3-6 mights a week(which burns off anywhere from 600-1000 calories a night) to spend time with him. On top of that my diet changed- I lived on salad and fish...My hubby, like most men is meat and One day i woke up and was literally double the woman I used to be. My hubby understands that I am getting fit and healthy again and he either eats what i cook now- or he fixes his own. Ya gotta do whatcha gotta do ya know?

    You and I started with Spark in 2009. I am impressed with your progress and your cheerful outlook on your life. You have been a motivator for me to get back onto the SparkWagon. I have followed some of your Blogs for a while now but did not realize you were into music. I went to your Webpage and I was blown away with your music. I even sent your Website to a friend of mine with Rodeo Drive. I really enjoy the Blues.
