As the title says I have a Host of medical issues. The list goes as follows;Diabetes, Hypertension, High Cholesterol, Sleep Apnea and last but certainly not least HIV. Whew, I'm tired already just naming everthing! In need of outside motivation and encouragement. Any sugestions are greatly appreciated. Added 9/26/2010: I now have restless leg syndrom, neuropathy, and extreme sewlling in my feet and ankles! take a look at the pictures I've posted! You won't believe them........ I would greatly appreciate any homeopathic remedies, I'm still keeping my head up!
To get better control of my Diabetes, lower my Blood Preassure, my Cholesterol, lose some weight become healthier and to gain a new lifestyle healthwise!!
Watching what I eat, smaller portions, more exercise, and most importantly keep the Carbs moderatly low!

Check out some of these books that I have been trying that are really helping me; Cocinando para Latinos con Diabetes(it's in Spanish and English), Diabetic Meals in 30 min or less, and last but not least, "The New Soul Food". Hi Big Bear! Many well wishes for you to achieve all your goals. I'm not diabetic (yet----but certainly in the genes), so I want to share with you my tip for reducing sugar in my diet. Instead of using regular sugar, I use a combination of Xylitol and Stevia. Both are manufactured by NOW, which to me have the best taste. When buying the Xylitol, make sure you get NOW's "No Aftertaste" formula. If you don't know about Xylitol, it is not a chemical and safe to use with few calories and minimal impact on blood sugar. Stevia is plant based and safe also. Boy has Stevia come a long way! It used to taste HORRIBLE. Now it's not bad at all---especially if you get the NOW brand with "No Aftertaste". I usually use a little of each in whatever I'm sweetening. This sort of magnifies the sweetness and minimizes any prominent aftertaste from both (eventhough NOW claims "No Aftertaste," there's a little----but much less than other brands). I tried saving money and bought Stevia from Samsclub. Big mistake. It's yucky and I have tons of it left. Let me know what you think of my concoction. I use it in water and lemon to make lemonade, in oatmeal, etc. It's a little costly, but well worth the money. Less than $20 will get you started to see if you like them. One last word of warning, it takes a little time for your body to get used to the Xylitol, so don't take too much of it to0 soon. It can cause serious gas if you over do it. However, that goes away in time too. Thank God! Hope this helps.
