After living away for several years, I am back in my small Kentucky town, residing in the house in which my great-grandparents, my grandparents, my parents and my sister and I lived.......at various times, of course. Amazing. Shortly after I arrived here, my plum jelly and jam entries (made from the fruit trees in my backyard) won two blue ribbons at the local county fair. This was a first for me!
During the many-year interlude, I lived in university towns in Ohio, Iowa, Michigan and South Carolina. I do miss the art and music venues, and I hope to move back to the last 'stop.' I am divorced, have two adult children and have two grandchildren, one of whom has Asperger's Syndrome. I have learned a lot about that syndrome and would be interested in hearing if anyone else is dealing with Asperger's in their family.
I have two music degrees and am toying with the idea of writing a fiction/fantasy novel aimed at pre-teen and adolescent readers. Last year, a cousin and I helped to produce a 650-recipe cookbook, "A Taste of Heaven," for our church. The recipes are 'divine,' and the proceeds go to our benevolence fund. This was a delightful project.
My desire is to meet others who are interested in achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. My interest is to lose the "too many" pounds of weight I added since I moved back to Kentucky!
My goal is to lose the several pounds of weight that I added since returning to my home town. In addition, I have found a business and a new career. Fun!
I am planning on living a long time. My mother passed at 95. It's in the attitude.
I will get back to a size 10 and a Medium and will donate my larger clothes.
By finding and joining SparkPeople, I am counting calories and learning more about nutrition.
I'm back at Curves and will go about three times a week.
My clothes are fitting better, but I am noticing a change in my face. As weight goes, wrinkles show! Water, seafood and vitamin C may help.
I have two college degrees and a background that includes a bit of teaching, a lot of sales experience and a period of running a rather large non-profit professional symphony orchestra. In my varied
sales 'careers,' I've sold everything from cars to graves! And now? I'm back in sales and helping others to reach their goals.
I have had a very busy two months - joined Avon as a rep, then spearheaded the revival of a town festival that had been canceled. The festival was great, our local food pantry benefitted, chili was the 'meal of the day,' and prizes were won, especially the vacation to Oceans One Resort in Myrtle Beach.
Just thought I'd tell you that I also turned 70 on May 22. Your profile picture looks fantastic. Edie

Loved your pictures (border) ! I taught for 14 years, plus 11 more in a school where I did some teaching, but mostly supervised computer use by pre-school through 6th graders. A free month of Curves was given to me. It was good, but a little more than I could handle for much longer! sladld

Bibilu, in case no one has suggested it: in response to your question on Stepfanie's article about how to make just the article printer-friendly...I generally block the entire article and copy it into my word-processing prog. That way I not only get just what I want, but I can fiddle with it to make it PAPER friendly, too, with a smaller font and narrower margins. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the Anyone Over 70 team. We would love to have you join us on the thread where we all meet and chat. You can reach us at "5# At A Time Challenge" - that is one of the topics under the Anyone Over 70 Forum. We do have a challenge that is mostly ongoing, usually begins one holiday and ends on the next - for example, the one we are now in began on the Monday after July 4th and will end on the Monday of Labor Day. It is optional, and you can join in with us, or just come to that thread and chat. Many just chat, some join the challenge and we weigh in every Monday. Our leader, Reva, keeps a tally of what we weigh, and our co-leader, Marlene, keeps a spreadsheet of how much we have each lost. Marlene is away until the weekend, but will be back in time for this weeks weigh-in.
Come visit with us and help us get acquainted. You will love the ladies on this team. Wishing you much success on your new journey!
