I'm in a new phase of life... post-corporate, post-divorce, amazing relationship...giving back to the community...and I'm loving it.
Today (Oct. 10) I reached my revised (downwards) goal of 115 pounds. It has taken over 7 months being on this wonderful journey, and like most people, I've had setbacks and hit plateaus. After much thought, I now have a more positive perspective on plateaus which you can find in my 9/19/09 blog. This realization helped me reach my goal.
I have more energy than when I started, my workouts are more enjoyable, and I enjoy fitting into clothing I've not worn in 10 or more years, which has certainly expanded my wardrobe.
Before joining SparkPeople, I had my Fitness in order, but didn't realize I wasn't eating enough carbs or fat to fuel my body optimally. SparkPeople has really helped me refine my Nutrition and rev up my metabolism in a healthy way!
And I LOVE being a member of the SP community. There are so many awesome, supportive people who care deeply about the success and well-being of others. Thanks everyone!
I would like to be thinner for health reasons (breast cancer runs in my family) and to enjoy my active lifestyle even more.
Resistance training 3x per week
Cardio 3x per week
Walking almost daily (errands, meetings) as I almost never use my car.
Love the Nutrition tracker since it gives great info on my Carb/Fat/Protein balance. I eat about 90% to 95% Clean (also for health reasons)
American who moved to Canada and loves both countries! Semi-retired, now working with non-profit organizations and loving it.
Love hiking, love my boyfriend (not necessarily in that order). Owe who I am today to my wonderful, loving, and supportive parents. Also, love reading, art, fine wine, travel, and helping others.

Congratulations on meeting your goal! I am also trying to do errands by bike. You exercise a lot! Way to go! I'm trying to create an active lifestyle too!

Thanks for your comments and encouragement on my blog! I'm going to try the yoga class again today. Yup, I'm a glutton for punishment!

I actually was doing the circuit weights three times a week at my old gym. Though now I'm not sure that the weights were set high enough. But I absolutely believe in the importance of strength training. I'm excited to learn to do it more efficiently and productively!

Oh, that is so cool (3x per week)! I'm trying to figure out how I can increase my income from my business enough to cover a half hour session at least every other week... We'll see. But in the meantime I'm getting as much out of the free sessions as I can!

Thanks for posting on my page! I actually did go back and find your blog when you mentioned it.
This morning went really well. A lot of it was a 'getting-to-know-you' session, in terms of my medical background, limitations, etc. And then we worked with some basic exercises (squats, pullups with a strap, etc.), focusing a lot on form. We're meeting again next Tuesday for my second session, and he's going to help me with a basic program to start with. In the meantime I'll be working on what he taught me.
I would love to be able to afford regular personal training with him, but I'm not sure how we can possibly swing it financially right now. But I do have a few questions... How often do you meet with your trainer? Do you focus more on weights or cardio during your sessions? How long are your sessions? (They offer 30 min, 45 min, and 60 min sessions at my gym.)
