Mirth Matters

It's got to be fun and it's got to be something I can do for life.

I joined this website in Jan 2011. And then did nothing for 3 months. I started up again in March 2011. And still not much done. By August 2011 I started getting the hang of it. In Sept 2011 I checked the site several times a week, and in January 2012 I committed to building a "Self-Kindness" foundation, with specific activities to do each day (EVEN IF it is just a reminder to take care of myself:) --- and also ...

I joined this website in Jan 2011. And then did nothing for 3 months. I started up again in March 2011. And still not much done. By August 2011 I started getting the hang of it. In Sept 2011 I checked the site several times a week, and in January 2012 I committed to building a "Self-Kindness" foundation, with specific activities to do each day (EVEN IF it is just a reminder to take care of myself:) --- and also trying to stay more connected to SparkPeople -- but when I get overwhelmed with just the basics of daily life, sometimes rushing to log on to this site is not the best in self-care. All in moderation and all with time and then it is ok.

It is now March 2014-- first day of spring - and I haven't been on this side for over a year and a half. And I want to get back to connect with all of the inspirational and fun people on this site.

The Moose is my totem for this year -- strength and self-esteem but, bottom line, for me, I have to see the good in changes and not try to white-knuckle it. And this site reinforces that.

I've had body issues all my life. I lied about my weight on my original Sparkpage because I couldn't admit that I weighed more than 170 (at least, this is when I stopped weighing myself and taking any photos).

I want to go back to my healthy weight. I started this site at about 50 pounds overweight and have been this way for the last 12 years (I weigh more now then when I was 9 months pregnant....and that's just wrong.) I want to lose about 30 more pounds, but I'm feeling pretty good right now.

I love to have fun and radiate joy --- my daily "mirth" matters. I want to enjoy this wonderful life I have, even with all the challenges that come with it (and I've had some big ones).

But for now, I don't really look the way I want to and I don't really feel the way I want to and I'm striving to have a healthy LIFESTYLE that hopefully will be reflected in my overall appearance (both inside and out:)..... and not all of my cute clothes are fitting.

I've had food and addiction issues all my life, and it is time for my outside to reflect all the healing that has happened inside.

Along with the wonderful SparkPeople community, I have a strong spiritual connection now that keeps me company and guides me daily, so........

upward and onward with joy!!

My Goals:

My Program:
Enjoy 1600-1700 calories per day of good, healthy food ; eat mindfully; 30+ minutes of daily walking (a friend gave me a Bowflex Treadclimber and I LOVE it - I can put my laptop up and watch stuff while I walk too:) and eventually add in 10+ minutes of stretches for flexibility (I will get my "yoga" body back:) 8+ hrs sleep a night, plus 1 rest/nap daily; 8-10 veggies and fruit servings daily; use this website to stay focused and start making spark friends that I actually interact with -- take the time to use this resource EVEN IF it is only once a week or twice a month -- progress not perfection!!

Other Information:
I have so much in my life -- lots of good and some bigger challenges - but I'm very grateful that I have a wonderful sense of spirit and tools (for me, 12-step programs mostly AND practicing Melody Beattie programs/daily commitment to my private gratitude journal, and of course SparkPeople, and all of this helps me cope with struggles in a healthy way and enjoy life now.

Slowly and steadily and with fun.

So did the kittens find a home? I sure wish I could have a cat or a dog! Darn allergies...I miss my animals. It has to be so rewarding to get to work with animals on a daily basis!!
