Thanks for the comments on our tandem. We just got it a couple months ago. I'm up in the Chicago area for the winter and we got it 5 days before the Midwest Tandem Rally in Madison, Wisconsin. I found out about that rally the day after we bought the bike and signed us up. We had less than 20 miles on the bike when we went and basically learned to ride it there over the weekend with about 500 or so other tandems around us. It was really amazing to see so many tandems at once. Since then, we have done one ride with the Chicago Area Tandem Society (CATS).
We have been riding a lot on our own, but with the cold weather setting in here, I don't expect to do anymore riding until next spring.
My husband is retiring in June and our permanent home will be in Crossville, TN after that. I look forward to both the AL and TN tandem rallies, but don't know if we will be doing either one next year. Our plan is to go on an extended self-supported tour with the bike after he retires. We've never done self-supported touring before so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we will like it. It will depend on the dates of the rallies and where we are tour and training-wise whether we can come. I'll be sure to contact you if we go to either. We will be sort of hard to miss if we are there! At the Midwest rally, there where no other Hase Pinos (our bike), and there was only one other tandem there with our configuration.
Thanks for the invite! What kind of tandem to you ride?
