Well, I joined Sparkpeople on Saturday, September 11th, 2010 thanks to my daughter who introduced me to this site. I have been up and down with my weight since I was a teenager. There were times in my life when I was completely happy with my size, but still unhappy inside. My self-esteem is obviously extremely low. Gaining weight has only fueled that. I lost 75 lbs. in 2003 in just over a year, but unfortunately gained it all back and some. But now I really need to get motivated and take responsibility of my own actions and get healthy. It doesn't get easier the older we get. This will be hard, but it will be well worth it!

My Goals:
Basically, I need to loose at least 50+ lbs. and to be more active and get fit. I know I can do this! I met my first goal of loosing 10 lbs by October, 2011, and by the end of December I had lost almost 30. But I hit a plateau. Then I got married and we neglected our eating habits totally. This March 2013 the Dr. has now put me on thyroid pills, but I am now motivated to go at this full-hearted again.


My Program:
I am now keeping within my daily calorie allotment and walking on my treadmill a minimum of 3 times a week, 1 hour each time for a total of 9 miles a week. I have a Wii fit which I need to get on more in order to get past this plateau. My fiance and I also work out together on Monday nights at a school gym where we do resistance and cardio.



Personal Information:
I am a Canadian, 57 years old. I have 3 grown children who are all married, and 2 grandchildren. I was married, divorced, married again, widowed, and now married again in May 2011. My daughter Glenda is PrincessRempel and is on here too. She is my motivation. She is a Crossfit participant and is giving me helpful starts for exercising too.


Other Information:
I love to sing and play guitar, I'm not much of an outdoors person, especially in light of where I live (it gets very cold here and in the summer we are invaded by mosquitoes!). I am a Christian and I know that with God's help I can do this!

    Welcome back. I know you can do this. It takes hard work and dedication. Surround yourself with positive images and read books, blogs, articles all that motivate you. And really focus on eating healthy. That's a big part. I have to focus on food too. I have too many days that I eat too much sugar. You can do it!

    Mom- I know the lack of motivation thing. That was why I did crossfit, because they really help with the motivation. Maybe you need a gym like that? Or something that has a class style workout to it, rather than a gym where you just go off on your own. Or maybe, what if you got a personal trainer for a few sessions- ideas and motivation ??

    I guess you can also just start on your treadmill and the Wii again.
