Welcome to my Spark home

Welcome to my Spark page. I am 63 years old and a retired speciaI education teacher (non categorical preschool).
My husband and I have a 3 year old rescue beagle named Buster. He is a bundle of energy and makes us laugh. He has eerily similar traits that we saw in our last 2 rescue beagles. He's very sweet and lots of fun for us.
Our daughter, husband and her 3 children (my adorable grandchildren) live about 25 minutes from us. They also have an old rescue beagle. I am so ...

Our son is married to a great woman. They have his rescue beagle (see a pattern in our family?) and her two cats. They live about 10 minutes from us but are looking for a larger place! Hopefully, they won't move too far!
I joined Spark in December 2009 and, like everyone, life has thrown me some curves as well as blessed me in many ways! Although I struggle with consistency, my main struggle seems to always be with exercise. It seems I do fine for awhile and then I get off track. I always go back to the basics but it does get discouraging.
I'm trying to focus on being a healthy me with the energy to have fun with my family!

Hi Beth, we're fine, just focused on getting ready for my retirement and then a three-month trip to Europe, Thailand, and Bali. I've had a lot of getting ready to do and am barely logging my food and exercise here!

Years ago, in 2007 on, I maintained my streaks for months and even years!!!!! I can't believe it. What happened to me.

Sorry if I have been distant lately. I have been trying to cope with changes and am doing better. Hubby has been taking a lot of time off. How can I help you to maintain your enthusiasm, and mine too? LOL. I have managed to do the entire hike 3 days in a row now but I am really slow. I still don't eat very well like I should.

Have you and your hubby figured out what you will do after retirement? Sue and Bill seem seem to be travelers. I would love it but I know my hubby won't do that and he is a lot younger than me - over 58.

I have been decluttering too. I have got to get rid of a ton of stuff.

Everyone forgot Benny's birthday but my MIL's best friend. LOL.

Hi Beth, thanks for stopping by my page. Josh has done great his first week. He's been super helpful around the house and yard, has applied for many jobs and has a great attitude. Not what I was expecting so I'm very pleased so far.
I just hope he finds a job quickly.

Have a emoticon week!

Yes, dear Beth. I do have a therapy light. It kinda helps. I have to haul it out of the Basement of Doom and set it up on the next couple of weeks. It takes up space and half the time I get too depressed to remember to turn it on but it seemed to help a bit last year.

And you are right -- exercise really really helps! But with the holidays coming, and DD's b'day looming (no word for 13 moths now), there is a temptation to dwell on non-helpful thoughts. Work keeps me very busy so I am grateful that I still have that to go to. Retirement is at least 3 years away, and then I will be bored quickly -- lotsa curtains are planned, lol.
