Welcome to my Spark home

Welcome to my Spark page. I am 64 years old and a retired speciaI education teacher (non categorical preschool).
My husband and I have a 4 year old rescue beagle named Buster. He is a bundle of energy and makes us laugh. He has eerily similar traits that we saw in our last 2 rescue beagles. He's very sweet and lots of fun for us.
Our daughter, husband and her 3 children (my adorable grandchildren) live about 25 minutes from us. They also have an old rescue beagle. I am so ...

Our son is married to a great woman. They have his rescue beagle (see a pattern in our family?) and her two cats. They live about 25 minutes from us also (in the opposite direction!)
I joined Spark in December 2009 and, like everyone, life has thrown me some curves as well as blessed me in many ways! Although I struggle with consistency, my main struggle seems to always be with exercise. It seems I do fine for awhile and then I get off track. I always go back to the basics but it does get discouraging.
I'm trying to focus on being a healthy me with the energy to have fun with my family!

I don't think the winter mix will amount to much of anything but I really don't want any. LOL.

Yeah - my bad habits seem to form in a twinkling - the good ones - not so swiftly. Thank you for the bloglove on my post 75 Days Does Not A Habit Make. I'm proud to say I did get outside with those doggies and took a tiny walk. That's enough to count because life really does make other demands. the funny thing is that only a week ago I had begun to think I really had formed a habit - that I had quit waking up thinking "it's all too much I can't do this" ah well. It's all about being conscious, right? Being present - being here. And that is all good.

Benny's parents always had a garden as they were poor. Benny got me into gardening and then he cooled to it. I like the taste of the veggies, not the work involved. LOL

Blocker is the same. She is doing okay for now.

Benny had the green thumb here. When he helps with the garden it looks like a jungle.

Blocker was up early today and is eating well.

She is stronger and more active - eating better all the time. I hope she makes it.

I got all my raised beds cleaned out and ready to add more dirt, some plants to certain areas, and mulch. I will have to buy all of that soon. Plus some veggie plants. Hubby doesn't want to bother with a garden but I can't imagine not having anything.
