For most of 2013 I was At Goal - a marvelous feeling - and though the last few weeks of December knocked me off track - and the first few days of January 2014 seemed to move very slowly - at last I'm ready to hop back on my Maintenance Pony and continue living a healthy life.

I'm still a Maintenance Newbie and it takes as much effort as weight loss took - but it's a whole lot more fun to dress a body in maintenance! Woo Woo.

“Regardless of what came before or of what has yet to come, what matters most right now is how I choose to respond to the challenge before me. Will I lie down or will I fight? The choice is mine and I choose to finish strong.” (Dan Green)

Thanks for the Christmas tree goodie! I hope to have wrapping started and finished very soon! Then I can relax and wait for the big day. Actually, it's 4 days for my family! We spend one evening going to a light show; Christmas Eve dinner at my son's (who is a great cook!); Christmas Day a quick visit to my daughter's to see what Santa brought; and December 26th will be family Christmas celebration here. Whew!!! Hope you have wonderful family time, too!

You have it in you

When you feel like quitting, that’s an opportunity to keep going. When you feel like giving up, you have it in you to step forward with renewed energy and to give more.

Giving up doesn’t accomplish anything, and it doesn’t make you feel any better. It just leaves you with disappointment and regret.

There’s a way to keep going, and you know it. There’s a way to keep going, and just imagine how great you will feel for choosing persistence.

If you’re weary, stop for a short while to rest, but don’t give up. Remind yourself of all the good reasons why you’ve chosen to move forward, and then get yourself going again.

If you wish to be free of the effort, then do what it takes to finish the effort. Make all your work count for something by bringing it to a successful conclusion.

The next step is right in front of you, and you have it in you to take that step. Keep going, fulfill your best possibilities, and you’ll always be thankful for your choice to do so.

— Ralph Marston
