6/2/11 An added feature to my new life eating habit was to limit carbs to those found in vegetables and fruit. Cutting out or at least cutting down on "white starch carbs" such as bread, rice, potatoes, pasta has helped me to loose at a nice steady rate. I am no longer obsessed with loosing overnight, loosing slow but steady has been easier on my staying power, less frustration and urge to "cheat"

I have found tracking calories both consumed and burned is the most important part of any "diet" or lifestyle change. If you know what you are taking in and burning off, you can change that to make a bigger difference. And you are not fooling yourself into thinking your are taking in less or burning off more than what is real. So my personal advise to EVERYONE-use Sparkpeoples trackers for success.

I do agility and obedience with my Bernese Mountain Dogs and being overweight is hampering our performances. My dogs are slim and athletic and it is time for me to lose weight to keep up with them.
I am about half way and am really encouraged to keep going. It is becoming more of a challenge-not more challenging but just me vs wt and I AM GOING TO WIN
I think one of my awards will be the violet Sparkwear
that says I finally lost it-and my friends will all think
first I mean my mind-which is not far from the truth.
So another concrete goal/prize to aim for.

My Goals:
Change my lifestyle to healthy, to attain my goal weight and not "diet" the rest of my life.


My Program:
Eating healthy, real foods. But including an endulgence so the urge doesn't build. Hershey's dark kiss a day, keeps the munchies away.



Personal Information:
I have found that mowing the grass is my favorite form of exercise. I am outside, I can see progress, it has a beginning and an end, and I build muscle and burn calories.
AND the grass smells SO good.
Started SP at 190


Other Information:
I would just like to tell folks to not get discouraged and take every day one at a time. Rejoice in the steps forward and don't dwell on the steps back-there will be some but they should encourage you to try harder and not become dissuaded from your goals.
And listen to books on tape when you are riding the cycle or walking on the treadmill-it makes the time pass much faster-and you get your reading in AND exercise!!
Good luck to everyone, stick with this site and it's tools and you will make it. Advice from someone with little will power-me.
