I created this page when I joined Sparkpeople in March 2008 (it's now December 2009!), but took it offline and have done nothing with it since. But at the prompting of my friend, I'm going online! I got serious about my weight loss goal in April 2009 when I was at 172 pounds. I've lost 20 pounds so far, and my goal is 145 (maybe 140, depending on how I feel when I reach 145). My progress has slowed in the last couple of months (hard to stay in my calorie range this time of year!), but I'm ...

My progress has slowed in the last couple of months (hard to stay in my calorie range this time of year!), but I'm doing pretty well with exercise! I just ran my first 5K this past weekend, and want to do another in March, then a 10K in April. Sparkpeople has been a great help for me, mainly in tracking my food and exercise, finding helpful articles (just printed "Spark Your Way to a 10K"!) and recipes, and my very inspiring friend, Debbie! My Goals:
- To lose 25-30 pounds
(goal weight 140-145)

- To maintain a healthy BMI

- To EXERCISE regularly to stay fit, strong, and healthy

- To get back to running regularly (after years of not running), including 5Ks and 10Ks

- To eat a healthy, balanced diet for nutrition (not for carbs, my sweet tooth, or fatigue)

- To make time to keep myself healthy, so that I can be better in all other parts of my life

My Program:
My basic program--such as it is--is to try to burn more calories than I take in on most days. My nutrition target is 1,500-1,600 calories/day, but honestly, most days I go over that by about 200. So I exercise most days--walking on the treadmill with an incline, running 2-3 miles, or stationary bicycle and swimming laps at the gym. My progress has been VERY gradual, but hopefully maintainable.

Other Information:
"I was sure I could do it."

Howdy! Thanks for the comment on my blog. I just posted a new one, but the Clif's Notes version is that I've got an offer from my reserve unit to take a full-time position with them. I'm extremely tempted, but I'm going to see if I can find a training position first. So a lot of pressure is off. The $$ won't be so hot, but less stress is big!

How are you doing? I haven't heard from you for awhile.

Happy Thanksgiving!

No, I haven't gotten any further in the nanny search. I updated the job description, but I haven't posted it yet. What's stopping me is that I feel like I need to clean my house before inviting someone to come in and live in it.

Hey, I know you'll understand this one...

I got the Meritorious Service Medal I need for my promotion board! I found out I got it 2 days ago. It was touch and go for a while about whether the group and wing would approve it since it was non-standard crossing units like that.

Here's the blog where I whined about it...

You MUST post a full trip report on the cruise. I LOVE cruising. And I'd love all the sea time of one to Hawaii (or did you just fly there and cruise around the islands? I know there are two different types)

I posted a blog tonight that does a pretty good job of summing up David and Beth and how they're doing. Beth is doing awesome in school - with the exception of a stubbornness problem. We're having to come down on her to listen to her teachers and do what she's told. Her independence streak is a little too strong sometimes.

David is doing sooo great on his new meds. He's getting green cards every day. Nights can be a challenge, but nothing like they were. He's also doing so much better in school as a result.

Steve's still in St Louis (he was home sick when the tornado went through the terminal. We didn't even know about it for a couple days.) We keep hoping he'll get LA one of these days, but it's been so long that I haven't been counting on it. One of these days it'll be a stunning shock.
