I'm a little bit strange and occasionally exceptional. I'm the girl with pigtails on a mission to conquer the known universe through the power of sonic annihilation.

I spent my formative years just outside of Nashville, was re-born in Chicago, grew up in Seattle and have settled down in Austin/San Marcos, Texas. It's true, I've been everywhere, man. I'm part Suzanne Sugarbaker, part Pippi Longstocking and part Janis Joplin; sometimes a lady but always entertaining.

I'm married to a super dude with culinary prowess and the ability to pun at will. Inappropriate humor, an obsession for music, the desire for continuous self improvement and the kinda love I used to dream about is the foundation for our relationship. I couldn't be happier! I wasn't born in Texas but as they say, I got here as fast as I could!

I'm a singer/songwriter. It was just in the blood I guess coming from a musical family. I have a serious long term relationship with my piano, Mr. Zings and occasional flings with my guitar, Evangeline. If I'm not making my own noise I'm probably deeply engrossed in listening to someone else's. Fellow audiophiles and music lovers feel free to geek it up with me.

I'm headed back to school to for Health and Wellness Promotion and Education with a minor in Health Psychology. I guess you could say I get a little obsessed when I make up my mind to make serious changes in my lifestyle. I'm a former athlete who knows both sides of the fat coin and all the baggage that goes along with that. I spent over a year in chronic pain due to degenerative discs in my neck that caused a lot of nerve damage. I underwent an anterior cervical disectomy and two level fusion on April 28th, 2010. I have worked hard to ensure a full recovery and do NOT take my health or life in general for granted anymore. I am doing everything I can to take care of myself physically and mentally. I believe I could do wonders encouraging others along the same path. Once a cheerleader always a cheerleader, I guess!

I could kick your butt in skee-ball and am no slouch when it comes to random trivia that no person should really know. I have two wonderful boxer pups named Lucy and Petunia that are very much a part of our family. They keep me on my toes and give the best snuggles ever.

I love to cook almost as much as I love flying by the seat of my pants or exploring the unknown. I like a plate of ribs and a cold beer (or pitcher of sweet tea) as much as the next southerner but will gladly exchange them for the ability to run again someday. There are a lot of mountains out there on my horizon just waiting to be conquered!

My Goals:
I would like to improve my overall health, maintain a healthy BMI and run a 5K in the next year!


My Program:
I've given up soda, processed foods and pretty much anything white ie: sugar, flour and potatoes for the time being. I am working to overhaul our kitchen and favorite meals into more healthful choices that include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables with lots of flavor and color.

I've modified a Couch to 5K program to reach my fitness goals and improve my overall strength and endurance.



Personal Information:
I live just south of Austin, TX in beautiful Hill Country. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing with our dogs and being active in my community.

I would love to meet other sparkpeople to motivate and inspire each other along this journey to improved health!


Other Information:
Music, books, traveling, people watching, films, good food and beverages, learning new things, D.I.Y. projects, photography, writing, an occasional pair of to die for shoes, the good people in my life and lots of love are crucial to maintaining my sense of well being.

    Welcome to the Couch to 5k running group!!!! Stop by the message board and introduce yourself to the team. On the team page you will find a thread for each training week. Click on week one and post were you are at in your training. This is a great way to meet others who are in the same phase of training as you. Some of my best friends were in my training week one and we worked through the program together sharing victories, questions, comments, and ideas. I look forward to learning more about you.
