Hello Ms. BeHappi! I have signed up and this is my first time as a Spark member. Your BEHAPPI just inspired me with the verses you chose to give to others.
I just had Bariatric surgery this past Monday (01/03/2011) and I'm already on step II of my diet plan. This was to jump start my weight loss because I have tried everything medically healthy but this was my last resort. I also had uncontrollable type 2 diabetes. My blood sugar would go as high as 600 or crash to 40-60. The normal range is between 85-150. After surgery on Monday, I had normal range blood sugar levels. Also, I don't have to inject myself five times a day and take two different diabetic pills a day. I praised the Lord with all the happiness I have just received. Knowing that I won't have to (Lord Willing) inject myself any more. I am free of the yoke of diabetes upon me.
Now my next step is to eat slower, take longer time at the table, increase more fruits & vegetables, drink more water, and last but not least is the most important thing I have to do every day is to get at least 70 grams of protein.
I do believe that protein in powder form or meats can improve the weight loss quicker. I had dietary education classes for five weeks required of me to take and learn the process of how to change my foods and intake. This class was before the surgery. In that short period of time I lost a total of 13 lbs. And I had not changed that much about my eating foods that I was always craving. For Example: Pizza, Donuts, Cheese Burgers, Chips, and Crackers. These are the worst foods to consume. But it didn't effect my weight because I was adding more protein into my daily meals. I also had to learn to eat five to six small meals, including healthy snacks everyday.
So since yesterday I have lost a total of 30 lbs in a month-n-1/2. I'm starting to feel much better mentally and physically. I had also smoked for over 25 yrs. I just stopped cold turkey the day before my surgery. Normally that's hard for some people to stop immediately with all of their unhealthy bad habits at one time. But Praise Jesus; through Christ I can do all things in order to glorify and become healthier in his name.
I just wanted to share a few little titbit's as to what I have been through and where I'm intending to go. And that's going to be positively straight up. No going backwards for me. Praise God!
