Oh my!

I wonder what this year's excuse will be? I'm closing in on five years with SparkPeople.com and I've lost -- ohhhh, eight pounds or so from my highest weight.

On the plus side, top weight now seems to hover around 186 but I'd prefer the plus side be a few numbers lower, say 156 and losing.

Day two of keeping track of what I'm eating, so let's see how that works.

How about this morning's news that there's arsenic in our chicken? Dammit, food producers ...

How about this morning's news that there's arsenic in our chicken? Dammit, food producers simply cannot be trusted anymore. Pair that with Monsanto's fight to replace food with GM plastic and voila, lower population for this planet. It sucks!

My Goals:
- Flaxseed as regular part of diet.
- Healthy diet/lifestyle.
- Regular, daily writing of at least 30 minutes.
- Move from ABD to PhD

My Program:
Add one new, good habit each week.

1. Start losing weight
2. Start exercising regularly and puposefully.
3. Start writing every day.

Personal Information:
I am "from" the Pacific Northwest but grew up in central California. Beyond that, I'm deciding ;-)

School is what I have enjoyed more than most other things. I'm supposed to finish my dissertation pretty quick but then, where to go? what to do? who to be? We'll see!

Other Information:
I am sooo glad I went back to school in my mid-forties! That huge thing changed how I think about myself, in very positive ways.

emoticon Happy SECOND SPARKVERSARY emoticon

What you accomplished is amazing since most of those who joined when you did gave up and quit. You loved yourself and wanted to be the best, so you WILL get to your goal.

What do you want for yourself this third year? emoticon

Two worthwhile books to read are:
SHRINK YOURSELF by Roger Gould, M.D. on not regaining pounds from stress,

AND: "The SOUTH BEACH DIET" by Arthur Agatston, M.D. on why after 40 it is difficult for us to lose with Insulin Resistance/Metabolic Syndrome. Dr. Agatston never started out to write a "diet" book, but wanted to help his patients not have heart attacks and diabetes.
