The Diet Rebellion is a one-woman operation, ready to escape the Empire, and try to salvage what is left to come back and destroy it all.

many will play - few will win
if it worked, we wouldn't be here

i'm tired of living the nightmare
i'm done with WEIGHT LOSS
i only have so much time on this planet
i've wasted nearly a third of it hating myself
i'm ready to move on.

I'M SICK OF THE PATRIARCHAL BULLSH*T PARADIGM THAT SAYS I HAVE TO BE THIN AND PRETTY TO BE WORTH SOMETHING

I'M SICK OF A WEIGHT LOSS INDUSTRY DESIGNED TO FAIL

COUNTING CALORIES = OBSESSING ABOUT FOOD

I AM STRONG, DISCIPLINED, AND INTELLIGENT.

IF WE'RE ALL STRUGGLING,
THEN WE ARE NOT THE PROBLEM.

Fitness Minutes: 28,843

My Goals:
1) Reach pre-pregnancy weight and clothing size. Dear goddess, before he can drive!

2) Live to be a healthy 100 year old firecracker.

3) Achieve what I set out to do - travel, hike, explore, be free!

My Program:
1) 1400-1600 calories/day.

2) 10,000 steps or more each day on the FitBit - moving up to 12,000 next.

3) Stay motivated by staying active on SparkPeople.

Personal Information:
I earned my Ph.D. in 2011 and teach psychology at a small liberal arts college.

I am married with TWO kids, THREE cats, TWO dogs and ONE bunny. HELP ME.

For fitness, I like weight lifting, running, walking, yoga, and ... Zumba - NO SHAME!

Stuff I like:
-Playing video games, especially ZELDA.
-Reading, especially fantasy, like Lord of the Rings.
-Drinking delicious Michigan craft beer, especially IPA's, porters, and stouts. YUM.

Other Information:
I'm sick of being implicitly told I'm incompetent because I'm not yet in the "lucky 5%" (can anyone verify that number?) who actually loses weight and keeps it off.

I'm sick of subscribing to the patriarchal ideals that my self worth as a woman is tied up in physical attractiveness, therefore putting me at the mercy of a weight loss industry and a food industry that feed off of one another in their goal of making sure I fail.

Your comment below fits me to a tee!

Long runs (about 6 miles for me, currently) and fartleks have been helpful. Using a training plan and sticking to it - crossing off the runs as I complete them, knowing what to expect - was very helpful as I trained for my first 10K. Now I feel more comfortable with 5K's as well.

For a pre-run snack, I have half of a whole wheat English muffin with a half tablespoon of peanut butter. Anything more and I burp non-stop! Without breakfast, I get sluggish. Drinking a cup of water beforehand also helps. And I chew gum while I run, which keeps me from feeling thirsty. - 8/1/2012 1:00:58 PM
