One Moment At A Time, One Ounce At A Time, Just For Today

January 2, 2015 - A brand new year. A brand new life.

October 15, 2014, one day before my 65th birthday. I have moved after 22 years At the same location, with the superhuman help of my only daughter. My husband of 12 years engaged in inappropriate behavior with a close family member so I kicked him out 3 months ago and I am presently in the process of divorcing him. Life has changed drastically this year but I am still trying to get healthier and lose weight.

The first months of 2014 were filled with sickness and death of close family members. But I took and take comfort in God's infinite grace and mercy which enables me to make it through each and every day, which I thank him for daily.
There was a snowstorm in New Jersey, January 3, 2014. I know that God has blessed me with a brand new year. I pray that with his love and guidance I make the most of it.

I am nearing the end of 2013, it is Thanksgiving Day. With God's Grace and Eternal Blessings I have been able to walk down and up the 12. Steps; (very significant for it to be 12); in my home that leads from my bedroom to the Livingroom/Kitchen/Laundry room downstairs several times a day. Quite an accomplishment for me in my post stroke recovery thus far. Thank You Jesus, ThankYou Lord.

I have significant anniversaries this year, 2013. August 17th will be the 3rd Anniversary of my Stroke , October will be 3rd Anniversary of learning to walk again and December 23rd will be the 3rd Anniversary of my return home from the Rehab Center where I recuperated from my Stroke.

I'm here to get healthier. Moreso now than when I joined in 2008. God has been good to me helping me find Sparkpeople and saving me when I had a Stroke in August, 2010. I am grateful for His love, mercy and blessings.

Dear God help me remember that every day is a gift and a blessing. Help me be forever grateful for each day, as each day is another chance to do better, to get it right this time. Help me be always mindful of that fact and to cleave to You, listen to You and be guided by Your direction and instruction in my daily comings and goings. I ask this of You in Jesus' name, for Christ sakes, if it be Thy will, Amen.

Affirmations: I Am Grateful, Thankful, Healthy, Wealthy, Wise, Happy,Joyous, Free, Fair, Firm, and Consistent.

TEN COMMANDMENTS OF SELF-LOVE

1. Accept yourself for who you are at this very moment. Appreciate the BEAUTY that makes you YOU:)

2. Be thankful for your blessings. You may not have everything you want but, you have ALL you need.

3. Make sure your worst enemy isn't dwelling in your own skin. Remember that you're always listening even if no one else can hear you!

4. Vow to take care of your body & work out daily! After all, it's the only place you have to live! Make it a happier, healthier place to reside in. YOU are your best investment.

5. Stay true to who you are & you will ALWAYS be happy! Gather all your crazy dreams, far fetched ambitions & big goals & build a life you love & are proud of!

6. Stop comparing yourself to who you're not! Girls compete with one another. Women EMPOWER each other.

7. Forgive yourself for every mistake, every heartbreak & every time you've fallen short. Self-forgiveness is a necessary & vital step to finding your inner peace.

8. Remember that you can't fix yourself by BREAKING someone else. ALWAYS choose kindness.

9. Focus your thoughts on what is good, what is admirable & what is positive. Never let your mind become consumed by negativity & hate. Never let your heart turn cold.

10. Say YES to adventure. Say YES to bliss. Say YES to the impossible. You never know when your heart will stop beating. Take the jump & free fall on the way down if you have to. Live with no regrets.

We must look inside ourselves to free ourselves. The issue of all growth is to make a change for the better and then to have an unrelenting willingness to shoulder the responsibility this entails (The Big Book,p.115).

Each day is an opportunity for personal growth. Self-esteem grows as we do in recovery. Without dreams and goals, there is nothing keep use moving forward. Out Higher Power accompanies us in our own personal journey each step of the way.

I am empowered to succeed because I realize there is power in powerlessness.

I hope you have a Sparktacular Week! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Courage is very important. Like a muscle, it is strengthened by use. A very dear SparkFriend this week posted on our Recovering Alcoholics team thread, Sobriety Blessings, this incredible reflection, "Sobriety has given me the courage to do the right thing in spire of my fear."

In my blog, Strength Training Builds More Than Muscle, I focused on having the courage to change our lifestyle and to reach our goals, our heart's desires.

Success is not final.
Failure is not fatal.
It is the courage to continue that counts.

Blessings today and always! emoticon

Courage is fear that has said its prayers!
