Take the Next Step...

I am a work in progress (aren't we all?). I am trying to focus on each day as it comes. My current effort is to remind myself that today is what matters. I do not think of my choices in terms of forever but rather in terms of the moment. What have I learned in my short time with SparkPeople? I've learned that TODAY is forever. Can I drink eight glasses of water forever? I don't know, and the thought is overwhelming. But what isn't overwhelming is this: Can I drink eight glasses of water TODAY? ...

And today is what counts. It's what matters. And it applies to every choice. Can I get in at least five fruits/veggies today? Sure I can. Can I make that decision today? Yep. That's doable. Today is my forever. Today is how I make it happen. Today is my inspiration.

My Goals:
Returned to food tracking and weight management effort as of 7/10/14. My first goal this year is to lose approximately 20 pounds by mid-October.

My Program:
I will be accountable, but I will not be too hard on myself.

I am working on some changes having renewed my commitment in 2014. Right now, I am diligently tracking everything I eat/drink, which ensures that I log in each day. I am closely monitoring my sodium and make a strong effort to stay as close as possible to recommended daily range, due to some concerns with the way medication has affected my blood pressure. More to come!

Lifetime Weight Watcher Membership earned in 1997 -- I'm still very proud of this accomplishment despite all the subsequent weight struggles I've had in my life.

The road to a healthier version of you may have many twists and turns. There may be detours and many tempting parking spots along the way. But, if you follow your map (an effective eating plan and physical training) and be aware of any trouble spots ahead by listening to traffic reports (mental conditioning and education), you will reach your desired destination (a healthy, maintainable weight). It may take you a little longer than you originally thought, but thatís ok. You want to enjoy your journey and, when the road is a bit slippery and treacherous, you want to be safe. Oh, and donít forget to stop and ask your SparkPals for directions when you get confuzzled along the way.

Give yourself a healthy weight pep talk today:

Whenever I sit down to eat, I am determined to achieve my goal. By never giving in and eating right, I will reach my healthy weight.

I really enjoy eating less, whether in a restaurant or at home. I donít have to finish the food in front of me anymore. I eat what I should and never one bite more.

When there is less food on my plate, there is less food on my fork. By ordering less when I eat out and giving myself small portions at home, it keeps me aware of staying with my goal each day. Less on my plate means less on my waist.

I will not allow anyone to influence, tempt, or discourage me in any negative way. Reaching my goal is up to me. No one has the right to control my success.

I am losing weight for my own reasons; for my life, my future, my personal health. No one will tempt me to take one more bit than I should. I am strong. I can reaching my goal.

A lot of food in front of me is no longer a problem. I just say no to the food and yes to my success.

I enjoy sitting down to eat because it gives me time to conquer my past and create a more active, self-confident, and healthier future.

I donít need someone else to remind me of my goal or to keep me from eating something I shouldnít. Iím responsible for myself and my body. No one can do it for me.

Itís easy for me to control my weight and appetite now. I enjoy smaller portions and smaller bites. I eat slower and am more relaxed in every way.

I am healthier.

Mealtime is achievement time for me."
