Becci's understanding of it all

Just want to come to grips with the whole diet/body thing. How does someone who has danced solidly for 24 years and been an ovo-lacto vegetarian for 14 years be so overweight for all of her life???????

My Goals:
Today - 23/5/10 i have started writing a journal and hopefully with some help and tips from everyone on here i can finally shift some weight.

My Program:
decided to record all i eat on these excellent pages provided and do 15 mins of exercise a day in front of the tv - shouldnt be to hard.

Personal Information:
Hi, My names Becci and you could say i have spent all my life overweight to a degree now where its getting me down because i dont understand it. I have been a vegetarian for 14 years so its not like i eat fried food like burgers and chips etc, i have danced since the age of three doing at least five classes a week and then when i bcame 18, i did a dance degree at university, dancing for eight hours day, and then went into the west end for three months, so how is it i am overweight by so much?? and believe it or not, i am actually lower in weight now then when i was doing all that!!!! i still dance as a hobbie and have a full time job. i have the talent but unfortunately for me, not the body.

Other Information:
I live in england where a lot of the time the weather doesn't allow us to do normal things like walking to the shops cause its always peeing it down. I have my own house which is a rarity at my age as its normally too expensive for couples let alone a single person like myself, so joining a gym is a luxury a certainly cannot afford. trying to do everything including budgeting for meals is a hard job in itself so any help on how to do all this on a budget as well would be an added bonus.

Hi Becci, welcome to Yorkshire's team. It's fantastic for motivation and for setting yourself challenges. I'm originally from Doncaster too and lived there for 18 years till I went to Uni. Now I'm near Wakefield. I was overweight all of my life until I was 22 and lost 6.5 stones. Managed to maintain it for a year now (other than gaining a few pounds) and this website has helped me loads. If you need any help / tips / advice / chat just send me a message! Liz

I have to say, you are right about this place. I think I joined 3 days ago and I am loving it. I have had so much support/hellos. I am overjoyed. Right now I am down to my last 10lbs which seem to be the hardest. I was over weight as a child/teen (yo-yo)/ early twenties. Does that make sense? Believe it or not I lost a lot of weight after my son was born in 1998. I was so addicted to metabolife. I was mad they took the good stuff out of it. I stayed thin 118lbs till I got pregnant with my second child and I gained about 60lbs and have lost all but 10lbs. I know you are probably saying no biggie, but I have the flab from the 2 fab kids I have. I started a Challenge with one of the groups today and it kicked my butt, we are doing 30 min of cardio a day with interval sessions of high intensity and then 20 to 30 of weight training. I am blessed enough to have a treadmill in my home along with weights, pilates DVD and mat, exercise ball...etc. See my point. I have done this before but never been to a place where I can talk about it. I just went to the grocery store and re-did my kitchen in healthy food.....hubby may get mad :). I know you said on your info that you live in England, how pricey is the food there? Do they have coupons? My girlfriend travels there often and tells me it is kind of expensive. I would love to give you recommendations. I am the queen of getting bargains, but I dont know the first thing about groceries in England. We will meet our goal. I will support you along the way. Shoot me a message when you feel like you just need that chocolate or whatever your craving is. We can do this!

Howdy Becci, I am new here. I am not a vegetarian but would love to encourage and share some wisdom to and fro. Welcome!
