This is my dog, Sammy. He passed away on July 29, 2013. He was blind, deaf, and my heart.

And we never even know we have the key...

I've been here since 2007. In that time, I've gained 30 some-odd pounds. It's not SparkPeople's fault; it's all mine. I have been pretty consistent about tracking over the course of the whole time--both nutrition and fitness. But that's all I did was track. I didn't look at my numbers or plan in advance or build any sort of consistency...unless you're talking about consistently going over in my nutrition numbers and under in my fitness numbers!

I'm very frustrated, but it's dawned ...

I'm very frustrated, but it's dawned on me. I have this amazing program at my fingertips, and I don't use it as it's supposed to be used! No wonder it hasn't worked! I've wasted so much time, being thoughtless and careless with this program, watching as other people have had success after success, and all I have to show for it is three clothing sizes higher than I started out with!

Well, no more.

I am following this program. I am going to do it mindfully. I am going to see it through, and gosh darn it, it is going to work.

Aww, Brenda! Thanks for answering all the questions - especially today's which I know was a tough one. Your answer was gut wrenching for me. I feel like I know exactly how you're feeling. You need to forgive yourself - hindsight is 20/20 and I think at the time you made the decision that was right (at the time), but obviously things change and it ended up not being right but you have nothing to apologize about. I have faith you will find your way back to a Happy, Happy Brenda. I think you're right that there IS Hope and that you chose a sad song that still has a hopeful silver lining. emoticon I owe you a letter! emoticon

I posted a bit of an explanation about -- well, I'm not sure what it's really called, I just call it the DOT method -- on that post of mine that you commented on - not sure if you'd find anything on google, if you want to read about it, it's not spectacular, it's just a simple way to track things emoticon

Hello, my new friend. I've been enjoying reading through your blogs about your job, your carpet-chewing puppy (whew--expensive!), and your Facebook troubles, among others. I'm impressed by your never-give-up attitude (always striving for improvement). I look forward to following your progress in the future, and I hope to soon start making some progress of my own! Have a great weekend!
