Never give up trying!! You are stronger than you will ever realize.
I have come to experience this first hand. At one point back in 2003 my life was heading in the right directions I was on my journey to weight loss and I had just accepted a new job at a very good local hospital. I had graduated from nursing school a year prior and was looking forward to the future. Then the day that changed everything. I was heading into orientaion for my new job and I fell in the parking garage. When I landed on the snow covered ground I knew that is was not good. I could not stand and began to scream for help. Thank goodness I was already at the hospital so they took me to the employee area. Hours the dreaded news was given. I had broken my knee cap very badly and would require surgery. That is the beginning of a very long painful road for me. Never have experienced breaking anything my thought the bone heels and you go on with your life right? I wish it would have been so simple. The next year that followed was long and painful and a very dark place for me. I ended up having 6 surgeries total and months of physical therapy. Although it is not a time I like to spend reflecting on I have come to realize during that time how STRONG I truly was. Not only was I able to come back from this but I came back better then I thought I could be. I continued to lose weight during this time and began focusing on health, strength and over all wellness.
Four years later I am strong and I am doing well. Don't get me wrong my leg will never be the same and I display the battle scars of the long journey but I stand strong.

My Program:
Current work out program is as follows:

Monday: 25 minutes of core work and 20 minutes of HIIT Cardio in the am. Train with trainer for 50 minutes

Tuesday: 25 minutes of core work and 20 minutes of HIIT cardio in the am. Train with trainer for 50 minutes

Wednesday: 25 minutes of core work and 20 minutes of HIIT cardio in the am.

Thursday: 25 minutes of core work and 20 minutes of HIIT cardio in am. Train with trainer for 50 minutes

Friday: 25 minutes of core work and 20 minutes of HIIT cardio in am.

Saturday: 25 minutes of core work and 20 minutes of HIIT cardio in am.

Sunday: Off.

    Hey! Got your text about your article! Congrats - that is SOOOO awesome. I have to go out and buy it still, but promise I will. How's it going? I've been a horrible sparker and need to get back to it - brief update - I had 3 comps since Sept. St. Charles - Masters 1st, Open 3rd, Chicago - Open 3rd, and Rockford Open 1st! Yippee! Am enjoying a bit of down time now and plan to compete again in March. Send me a message and let me know what's up!

    Wow! I can't wait to see your story in Clean Eating (my favorite food mag) and that is so well deserved as recognition for how far you have come.

    Yes, Spark is a "safe" place - it is rather scary to go out on the internet and let it all hang out as there are so many people who are haters, attackers and just waiting to latch onto someone's failure... but not at Spark where unconditional support is everywhere.

    BTW on your last blogpost, which I had replied too, I do think that Clean Eating is a way to continue to be healthy without being deprived or crazy about your program. I am finding in just these two weeks that I am more full throughout the day, less crazy sugar ups and downs, and that the food planning can be doable.

    It really does take balancing our desire to be the best we can be (which can get soooo obsessive sometimes) with knowing that our body needs a break. Take care and succeed!
