I follow the Jeff Galloway run/walk/run method. It is effective: I had no injuries during training and was only minimally sore after my first half marathon! I highly recommend it.

Thanks for stopping by my blogs and reading about my first half marathon. Congrats on you training for that as well.
My husband is also training for his first half, but you'll be running yours before he does - his isn't until April next year. I have him on a LONG plan so very slowly get him ready for that. I'll be running my first full marathon in October and then another full marathon in April (the same day he runs his first half - and the way the course is set up, we'll run together all but the last half mile of his half and then it splits off - whereas most half/full marathons split off much sooner than that)

You can definetly do it! And you are right, take it slow and easy - SLOW and EASY always WINS!!!!
