I play the Bagpipes (not as often as I should), that's me at an Air Show in England in 1999.

IF YOU LOOK AT THESE COLORFUL CIRCLES PERIPHERALLY (sp) THEY APPEAR TO MOVE, IF YOU LOOK AT THEM DIRECTLY THEY STOP MOVING . . . THE MIND IS A STRANGE AND WONDERFUL THING ISN'T IT?

It seems as though I've be chasing the elusive WEIGHT LOSS MONKEY my entire life. The monkey on my back is food; I DO LOVE FOOD! As such, these two monkeys often battled it out and usually the SPICEY LITTLE FOOD MONKEY won out over the WEIGHT LOSS MONKEY( my weaker desire to lose weight). However, the WEIGHT LOSS MONKEY has become stronger than the SPICEY LITTLE FOOD MONKEY and I have lost weight and I traveling down the road to better health!!!
Do I miss the SPICEY LITTLE FOOD MONKEY? I'd be lying if I said I didn't. As stated, I love food. I love cooking food, I love creating food, I love smelling food, I love the taste and texture of food, I love eating food . . . but I realize now that sometimes I was eating just to feed the monkey and not eating for the right reasons . . . SP has changed all of that and has helped me put the SPICEY LITTLE FOOD MONKEY back in his cage where I can let him out [on a leash] when I want, not when he wants. My point is, it's all about CONTROL, MODERATION, and being CONSISTENT in your daily food intake, more QUALITY less QUANTITY. Just call me the SPICEY LITTLE FOOD MONKEY WHISPERER!!!
My older brother used to refer to me as B.F.M. (Big Fat Man), but looking back, I wasn't an obese child, I was just heavier than him, the string bean that he WAS . . . he's battling his own weight monkeys now.
I retired from the Coast Guard as a CWO3 with 25+ years in 2004. Towards the end of my career I ended up on the weight program (aka, "Fat Boy" program) which essentially led to my retiring. I missed being promoted to CWO4 because I couldn't lose the required weight. I realize now that I used it as a reason to retire.
So, here I am, retired from the CG, an 80% disabled vet, age 54, 50 - 60 pounds overweight and looking to change my life in many ways . . . health, finance, relationships.
I look forward to being a member of the Spark People community and helping others to do a smack down on their Spicey Little Food Monkeys for many years to come!!!
To lose 45 pounds so that I'm healthier, happier, and can enjoy life to its fullest!
To be debt free within 5 years. I would like to REALLY retire before it's too late!
Lastly, I would like to write a song that actually gets played on the radio; whether I or someone else sings it is not important . . . to check out a few of my songs go here . . . http://www.songspace.com/ScottDonham
Getting cardio exercise everyday.
Tracking every scrap of food that I consume and making better choices of what goes in my mouth!
Having been in the Coast Guard for 25+ years I feel as though I'm from everywhere . . . I was born in Atlanta, GA and moved to Nashville, TN as a teenager. I joined the Coast Guard two months after graduating from High School.
The Coast Guard was a natural fit since I had been around boats and water my entire life. Additionally, my Grandfather was in the Coast Guard during WWII.
Love to read . . . Love music . . . Play the guitar, bagpipes, and play around with the mandolin, banjo, drums, and bass . . . I do love creating music, it's very relaxing . . . I enjoy taking photos too . . . btw, I am an 80% service connected disabled veteran with 25 1/2 years on active duty in the U. S. Coast Guard.

You commented on my page way back in August and I didn't read it until recently. I have a soprano and tenor uke. I like the soprano better because it small and easy to handle, although I should probably just bite the bullet and move on up to the bigger size. Sorry for the late reply!

SLAINTE BOUCHAL! That's the only Gaelic I know, it means;
" Greetings Brother". I hope you are well and that you are making healthy choices!

Thanks for adding me to your friends. Thanks for the tea (even though it is very green) I'll enjoy it on a rare QUIET afternoon!
When I lived in Scotland it was on the Isle of Skye...the only thing I visited was the sheep every morning! It was fun living there for the time. I only made it to Glasgow when we went to the airport. However, I did see Nessie a few times when we went to Inverness! I loved Inverness.
The circles are really cool...my brain just isn't. (To think I used to love strobe lights...ugh what's happened.)
