Singing the Prednisone Blues...

I'm a 47 y/o married woman with 4 boys, 2 corgi's and a cat we 'borrowed' while my son is in afghanistan. I had a severe medication reaction almost 4 years ago, leaving me physically compromised and gaining 50lbs. Until recently, noone has been able to tell me what was wrong with me. My troubles have only recently been diagnosed as sarcoidosis. I have had to reevaluate my reasons for losing this weight....I need to be as healthy as I can to fight this disease and be there for my family!

My Goals:
Long term goal: To lose 50 lbs by my next Birthday.

Short term:. Log onto SP daily to keep motivated and less isolated. Exercise daily, even if it's just 10 minutes at a time. Lose 10 lbs by Labor day!

My rewards: When I get to 10lb loss, I'm gonna treat myself to a new pair of shoes!

30 pounds ... WooHoo! I just got off all steroids and am working on just trying to, first, get under 200 pounds! Want to lose this weight! I'm not used to it! Would you believe that I started, on May 8th, at 210 pounds, and, now, am just maintaining at 201 pounds! I have plateau for 3 weeks straight, now! Stuck! Just can't lose, at least, just 2 more pounds, to reach my early goal. My dream weight is 130; although, I need to check with my Doctor what my weight should be, now, for my height and age. However, it looks as if I have plenty of time to do that. Anyway, I'm happy for you.

P.S. Thank you for the Goodie! What's so funny about it, is that I draw, also; and love my Prismacolors, and the Goodie you chose, reminds me of them! lol

I just joined Sparkpeople on May 8, 2012. I have CNS Sarcoidosis, the worst one that you can have. Mine attacked my brain; why they say I have Central Nervous System (CNS) Sarcoidosis. Mine is supposed to be in remission, at this time. I was diagnosed in May, 2000. Since then, I had 4 strokes, by 2004; and, then, a heart attack, in 2007 (2 days before I was to drive my daughter to her first year of College, in another State, about 12 hours from where I lived). I thank God everyday, that my heart attack did not occur with me behind the wheel of a car; and that I did not injure, or kill, anyone! My doctors stated that all of the attacks, were caused by the Sarcoidosis, cutting off blood flow, to the organs, affected. Anyway, my doctors did explain to me, that 90% of the time, Sarcoidosis, or Sarcoid, attack the lungs, and 10% the one of the other organs, or more, in the body. When I hear of other people, that are worse off than me; I am, constantly, reminded to stop feeling sorry for myself, and to Thank God, and to pray for them, and their health, and/or recovery. God Bless You! I just want you to know that you are not alone, in dealing with this disease.

LOL! I can only imagine. Right now I know myself well enough to know exercise is the way for me to de-stress, and I can share that with my DD. So, tha's my way.
