My name is Lindsay. I`m 26 years old, married, and have a 4-month old boy, Jakob.
I gained 100 lbs during my pregnancy and was 20-30 lbs overweight before I got pregnant...I was reckless during my pregnancy and ate everything in sight, and did not get any exercise. If I could turn back time, I would definitely do things a lot differently.
I'm 5'9" and have always weighed more than I looked....but at my heaviest, I was 292 lbs a few days before I gave birth. I can't even believe I would ever see that number on the scale (considering I was 145 lbs on the day of my wedding).
I lost 40 lbs within 2 weeks of having the baby (almost 10 lb baby, 25 inches long) and crazy water retention. I lost a few more pounds in the weeks that followed but struggled while I was breastfeeding and recovering from a c-section.
I recently stopped breastfeeding at 4 months (to my dismay...but I was really struggling with low milk supply due to hormonal issues...pumping/feeding every 3 hours, taking 17 supplements and pills a day to produce a minimal amount of milk and gaining weight).
I have surgery coming up at the end of May and although I know I will not be at my goal weight by then, I hope to be much healthier by then.
I lost an ovary in 2007 at the age of 21 to ovarian cancer and currently have another cyst or tumour growing on my remaining ovary. I have had 5 other previous surgeries, due to endometriosis and most recently my c-section. This surgery will yield a biopsy, a possible removal of the cyst/tumour, a possible removal of the ovary as well. Hopefully I get to keep my ovary, as to avoid menopause at the age of 26 and the loss of my ability to have children again.

I recently lost another 10 lbs with the help of my new elliptical machine and eating better. Feeling positive and very motivated. It feels great to have even just a bit more room in your clothes.
Can't wait for the road ahead and to continue living a happy and healthy lifestyle.

    emoticon Greetings and emoticon

Congrats on getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support- it's also lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together.

Sometimes the best way to start is to just pick a small goal such as drinking 8 glasses of water a day or eating 5 fruits and veggies plus a small exercise goal such as increasing whatever you've been doing by 10% - I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized here instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' and another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I have - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!

If you ever need any help using features of the site, there are tutorial videos under the HELP section that can show you how to use the features of the site and great FAQs for many topics. You can also find them on the START page and several other places on the site. I wish you the best on your journey!!!
