Getting wedding dress ready!
I got engaged to my amazing boyfriend on July 4th, 2008...and now I'm starting the "wedding diet". I'm looking to lose around 20-30 more pounds before the wedding. I want to tone my body so I look fabulous in my dream dress! I've been on and off sparkpeople for a year now and have made it past the 200 mark and will never see that number on the scale again! My heaviest weight was 215 and at this point I just felt so guilty about how I looked. I had tried things ...
I had tried things before and only got to 200 before ballooning up again because of emotional eating. Once I got engaged I knew this was the perfect opportunity to change my body for good. I had a goal and a deadline! I started working out to DVDs with my roomate, we did Hip Hop Abs and the 30 Day shred with Jillian Micheals. HHA didn't do too much for us, just got us used to doing a workout video every night. When we moved up to the 30 day shred, I really started to see results. I could feel my abs getting stronger and could see my endurance building up during the cardio. The one thing I do not like about this video is that you only have 8 minutes of cardio, and I needed much more than that to burn the fat off. I found out that my apartment complex has a work out room that is free for residents (Thank you Lord, because I can not afford a gym membership!). So now I go there on Tuesdays and Thursdays and sometimes weekends and jog/walk/run on the treadmill for 20-25 minutes, work the stationary bike for 10-15 minutes and do strength training on the machine. This has jumpstarted my weightloss again. I've come to accept that this is a journey and it's not all going to come off in a month. I am happy losing one to two pounds a week if I know I'm making my body stronger and healthier in the process. Things I still need to work on: -Fast food- I stay within my calorie range, but I know it's not clean food and I don't need all the preservatives. -getting fruits and veggies in- I'm usually on campus or at work during 2 of my meals a day during the week, I forget to bring fruits/veggies with me, or I can't keep them cold. -not putting myself down: Sometimes I tell myself how good I look now compared to 215 pounds, but often I think "man, I still have a lot to lose". I need to love my body NOW, and love it so much that I want to change it for the better! -Boredom eating: I eat when I'm bored, it's gotten a lot better since counting my calories and knowing what I put in my body. I need to block off the kitchen at night... I'm still a work in progress, check back in a couple months and see my success story :) Weight loss goals: Sept 1st- 190 (MET) Nov 1st- 180 (MET on 10/17) Dec 1st- 180 (STUCK!!) Jan 1st- 178 (still STUCK!!) Feb 1st-177 (MET) March 1st-169 (MET!) April 1st- 160 May 1st- 155 June 1st- 150 **at this point I want to focus on strength training to get my body firm for my wedding!
