Hello! A year ago, on July 8, I joined Spark People because of my beautiful, gracious daughter. She wanted to lose weight, and she found this fabulous website. Hello! A year ago, on July 8, I joined Spark People because of my beautiful, gracious daughter. She wanted to lose weight, and she found this fabulous website. Now, months after she began, she has lost weight through having balanced meals, making good choices, exercising, and overall wellness. As I watched her with her wellness, and through her encouragement, I decided I would stop thinking about losing the weight but to begin a sound program to help me. My daughter is my inspiration and hero. I stayed on Spark People throughout the year because I saw changes. The changes weren't through a drastic drop when I stepped on the scales. First, I am wearing smaller clothes. I've lowered some numbers---my glucose, my blood pressure, my cholesterol and triglycerides, to name a few. I also have better levels with energy. I have stamina and flexibility. How did these changes occur? Through Spark People! I knew I needed to eat better foods and to exercise. Yet through their programs and tools, I was constantly being reminded about what to do. Now, I just do it. The first year reinforced the things I tried to ignore. The second year will be better because they are now my habit!

My Goals:

1. Eating 3 nutritionally balanced meals and a snack 2. to stop impulse eating and cut out the junk 3. walk daily 4. begin exercising, esp the strength training
Personal Information:
I am a West Virginian and an avid reader. I teach elementary school, which I think is the best job to have. I like watching the kids as they grow in their academics. They become so excited! I really appreciate quality workmanship in arts and crafts, proving that something can be beautiful as well as functional. Quilting and basketry are two arts I especially like.
