Hi! I'm a 48 year old mother of one son, 20 years old. I have been married for 25 years. January the 12th, 2011 was my 2 year anniversary with Sparkpeople, I am now more active than I have been in a long time and I am eating better than I ever have in my life. Before I found Sparkpeople I was tired all the time, and I had absolutely no energy. With Sparkpeople I have lost 40 lbs. so far and I am on my way to my goal weight.

As I told my friend, in 5 years I will be 50 and I am already fat, I can be fat or I can be 50, but I don't want to be both! I can't do anything about being 50 so I guess the fat will have to go. I am already well on my way to making that happen. I could never have come this far without Sparkpeople.

Now that I have lost weight and I feel so much better and have so much more energy, I have some new goals I am working toward. The main one is going back to school to get a degree. If not for Sparkpeople I would not have lost the weight and I would not have enough energy to even consider going back to school. It's pretty hard to take classes from 6 to 9 pm when you're ready for bed by 7:30 every night! But those days are behind me now and everything is set on go!

My Goals:
My goals at this time are mainly to eat healthy and develope a healthier lifestyle. I really want to reach my goal weight (140) by June.

I also want to make my real body match the image I have of myself in my head, the way I looked 20 years ago, BK - before kids.

My Program:
I am logging what I eat everyday and trying to stay in my calorie range. I stopped drinking cokes and I eat many more fruits and veggies, less simple carbs.
I exercise almost everyday.

Personal Information:
My name is Barbara and I live in Texas with my husband and son.

I still have 5 pounds to go and I am focusing on that at the moment.

Because of Sparkpeople have been able to lose 40+ pounds and have a new lease on life. I have gone back to college to major in History. I never thought I would get my old figure back but here I am.

Other Information:
My favorite book of all time is "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.

    Hi Barbara DH and I are greeting the New Year with a really bad Virus. We both had flu shots but I picked it up at Christmas we did not go anywhere or with anyone so as to not expose DH to anything in 2 weeks he is supposed to be having a hip replacement and I am worrying it will be postponed. We have to drive to Portland for education on the 6th and on the seventh so we will find out in a few days. I am still in so much pain in my ribs from coughing.
