Hitting my stride, picking up the pace

I started walking in the fall of 2007 and found I loved it! Rather than long walks, I started by using my neighborhood park's walking trail and/or walking my block. As a homeschooling mom, this got me outside and moving but still close to home, which was successful for me! Nowadays I take varied, longer walks all over our neighborhood.

A community walking program in 2007 got me moving, and joining SP in April 2008 gave me plenty of resources to help me see what and how I'm doing. ...

My Goals:
My longer-term goal is to walk daily and ride my bicycle about three times a week; do some sort of core strength and balance work; and enjoy an active life.

My Program:
My main exercise is brisk walks around my neighborhood. This winter I'm using Wii Fit and Wii Sports for core, strength, balance, and other cardio exercise.

Generally I eat seasonally and avoid processed foods. My current nutrition challenges are to eat enough protein and plenty of fruit & vegs, and to make sure my carbs are whole grains/whole foods.

Personal Information:
I live where the wind comes sweeping down the plain.

Other Information:
I used to say I'm a "postmodern homemaker"; nowadays my passion is sustainable living in my own household.
