Low- Carbing my way to health and lower blood sugars

Hello!
I'm Barb and I am a 60 year old (almost, anyway) diabetic. I recently had a stroke from Type 1 diabetes.
It was a BIG wake up call, since I had never really had any bad effects from it before. I fooled myself into thinking that if I had no real bad repercussions from the diabetes, that I would be one of the lucky ones to get off scot-free!
But alas! This was not to be the case.

This past fall I suddenly had a stroke from the diabetes. At first I tried to tell myself that it was from the MS that I have, but then, after talking to the doctor, I realized I was letting my blood sugars get to high by eating too many carbs at once.
I could no longer go on fooling myself, and that is why I am here today.
To begin anew. Not look back at what I SHOULD have done all these years--those years are gone forever! All I have is today. And God Willing--tomorrow!
So I am on a quest to live the best that I can for this old body.
It may not be as young as it used to be, but it's all I've got and I've learned how important it is to take care of it.
Barb

Hi Barb!!!
I was just checing on you!! Your post on my page are so sweet!!! I have many people on my prayer team praying for both you and your family. My Dad died from adenocarcenoma. His first bout was in 98 and started in his esophagus. They did surgery and remove 90% of his esophagus and stomach. He was cancer free!!! During the following 7 years the enemy truly tried to get him. In 2003 he came to know the Lord as his personal savior and then he went home in 2005. The cancer had spread all over his body. I am so thankful that the Lord won the battle for his soul!!! We sowed him to the Lord for many more people that will come to know HIM because of my Dad's testimony!!!!
How are you feeling after the chemo? I know it makes you feel pretty crummy. I am so glad to hear you have a fighting spirit. Your grandkids to be definately will be blessed by a grandma such as your self!!! When are they due?
May God continue to bless you and strengthen you in the battle ahead!!! Remember the kindgom of the Lord stands behind you as you battle forward!!!
Your friend in Christ,
Sharon

Hi Barb,
I do not know if you are looking at your spark page anymore, but I wanted you to know that you are in my prayers. I stumbled across a message that you wrote to some one else about your cancer. You truly sound like a wonderful woman, and I wanted you to know you will have my family and my prayer partners standing behind you during this trial. I certainly understand cancer, as I lost my very very young father 19mos ago to it. He was 54. God Bless you!! I hope you see this and it encourages you!! My thoughts and prayers are with you!! Sharon
