Stick to basics and results will come!
Exercise + Proper Nutrition + lapband = success! There's no getting around it! Having Weight Loss Surgery is NOT a magic bullet to thin-ness. I'll repeat that. Having Weight Loss Surgery is NOT a magic bullet to thin-ness. On April 20, 2009, I had a gastric lap band surgery by Dr. George Fielding, at NYU Medical Center. Dr. Fielding is a pioneer in the WLS field -- and in fact was the first surgeon to bring the gastric band to the US once it was approved by the FDA. He also has a lap band himself -- so he knows exactly the who, what, where, when and why -- he gets it!! Weight Tracking: April 8, 2009 = 258.5 started presurgical liquid diet April 20, 2009 = 244 lbs. (-14.5 lbs.) Surgery Date! May 24, 2009 = 228.5 (-30 lbs.) June 18, 2009 = 226 (-32.5 lbs.) July 20, 2009 = 221 (-37.5 lbs.) August 1, 2009 = 218 (-40.5 lbs.) August 27, 2009 = 205 (-53.5 lbs.) September 20, 2009 = 202.5 (-56 lbs.) October 20, 2009 = 202 )-56.5 lbs.) November 16, 2009 = 198 (-60.5 lbs.) December 3, 2009 = STILL at 198 lbs. January 22, 2010 = 197 (-61.5 lbs.) February - July 11, 2010 = 193 (-65.5 lbs.) January 13, 2011 -- 192. Still at 192. Uggghh. for almost a year now. April 4, 2011 -- back to 197. Gain overall in 9 months = 5 lbs. Now to some this is not a major gain - but to me, as a lap band patient, this is inexcusable. May 21, 2011 - my beloved father unexpectedly passed away. I miss you DADDY! February 27, 2011 - steadily gained weight now at 214.5 lbs. Putting the brakes on NOW. March 5, 2012 - 210 (down 4.5 pounds woo hoo!) In the nine months since my Dad passed away, I have gained - I now weigh 214.5. Again. I can see the extra pounds in my body, my shape. I now feel extra fat again. I cannot let the scale go higher than this. So it is back to basics. Eat 3 small 1-cup meals daily, with low fat/no fat foods, no sugar, and minimum of 60 grams protein each day. and back to the gym! I renewed my Body Bugg subscription today and will be logging in food and see calories burned. I will eat 1 "splurge" a week, on Wednesdays. To reward myself. The other meals will be lowfat, lowcarb, high protein, and eat slowly, small bites.
