Trading one addiction for another...

I have traded smoking for working out.

I seem to be doing ok on not smoking (I've quit several times), but now I seem to be obsessed with how many calories I can burn on the treadmill at the gym. Sometimes I incline it up to a 11 or 13 while walking at a 3.7 or 3.8 for at least 20 minutes just so I can watch the calories go up faster.

Is it possible to trade one addiction for another? Well, I guess it is.

At least working out is healthier for me than ...

Seriously though, I hope this time I have quit for good because I will be working out to relieve the stress in my life.

My Goals:
To lose at least 30 pounds in a healthy way and keep it off for good.

Not to start smoking again!!!

My Program:
I have been exercising at least 4 times a week for at least an hour a day, and trying to eat more sensibly.

I have kept this work out pattern for 6 weeks.

Sometimes I even go for 1 hr. walks with my husband on the weekend.

Personal Information:
I work full-time, and am also a wife and mother of two teenagers.

I decided at the beginning of the year, after procrastinating for years, that it is time to take care of me now.

Even if that means that hubby and the kids fend for themselves once or twice a week for dinner.

Now that both of my children are teenagers, I need to put health first, or I won't be around for them in another 30 years.

Other Information:
- Love all types of movies including martial arts and documentaries

- Avid reader

- Give back to the community by volunteering

I saw your post on one of the Bank Team's message boards and thought I would check out your page.

What a great thing you are doing for yourself by deciding not to smoke anymore. Replacing it with your treadmill is great for your cause and your body.

I believe a little obsession is necessary when it comes to weight loss, or it would be waaaay too easy to fall off the horse.

btw... I live in Michigan too. My husband and I just bought a house in Fowlerville. It's a little country for my taste, but the price was right and it is right by the highway. :)

So you're an EA as well! Lot's of stress there - or at least there is with me. What part of the bank do you work in? I work in the Region Office for the Regional Manager. We support 132 branches across for 4 states. It's a lot of work but I love it!
