We have all heard that saying. For the past few years, I would look at my gut and wish it would go away. Go figure, it never did, and I even have the horse!
I knew I had to do something, I was not liking how I looked. A friend at the office had lost weight recently and she sent me to Spark People. I am forever in her debt!
I lost 23 pounds! Best of all, it was NOT that difficult!
I started slowly watching what I ate, tracking it in the nutrition tracker and it was an eye opening experience.
Then I started to do the strength training, not enough, but I started. I knew this was my weakness.
I started the C25K program and while I had iPod problems and time constraints, I was not able to move off week 1 after 2 weeks (hah) I did start power walking 1-2.6 miles a day and was amazed that I could cut my time from 22 minutes a mile to 14 minutes in a few weeks.
According to an article on one of the teams I am on, I found my happy weight to be 110.
I initially chose 115 due to something in SparkPeople when I signed up said most people can lose 10% of their body weight and 115 was that. Note, I wanted to keep my goal weight at 115 but you cannot make changes to your page if your current weight is less than your goal weight so I changed it to 110, then again and again as the weight came off and I wanted to update my page.
I was so excited to hit 115! I could not believe how easy it was to get those 13 pounds off. I planned to forge ahead full steam to my happy weight and maybe a tad below that as well. In my 20's, my prime weight was 102/104.
I also joined Curves to help me with my lack of strength training and this was great for me. I knew that this would be an issue for me, so joining forced me to do it since I paid for it!

Feb '09 starting point - weight 128
Aug '09 first goal met - weight 115 BMI 26%
Oct 1 '09 second goal met - weight 110
Oct 8 '09 third goal met - weight 109 BMI 18%
April '10 been consistantly around 106
I went from a size 6-8 to a size 0-2..
I have lost 23#s. I consider myself now in maintenance mode!!
I have my bike to use as it is getting colder and will not be able to power walk 5 times a week as I had during the summer. I have my treadmill when weather forces me inside this winter, but also have the proper clothing to run in 13 degree weather.
I love all my Spark Buddies I have met on this journey and look forward to getting more people on Spark and helping motivate others and to always, continue to learn myself!
Started the Couch to 5K Program, take 3! COMPLETED!

I started the 200 crunches in a day challenge in July as well. www.twohundredsitups.com Kicking up the C25K program and this has definitely helped to tone my abs. My butt will be next!

I am tired of gaining 2-4 pounds every winter and it not coming off.
I am going to lose this weight and eat healthier and enjoy life!!
NEW GOAL: When I get my butt in gear to do the C25K programs, I would like to get my running time to 11.5 minutes a mile. I think this should be easy considering I power walk a 14 minute mile. We will see!

I am filling in the nutrition tracker pretty regularly.
I have purchased work out equipment and DVDs to work out at home as it is too hard for me to get to a gym w/ my schedule. I then realized I make too many excuses to use the videos and joined Curves!
I love the 'where did I go' feature to track where you ran or rode a bike and the ability to upload it to your fitness tracker!
I am in Southeastern WI, originally from Northern, IL.
I have four dogs and two horses.
I foster dogs occasionally, so the dog # changes at any given month!

I had windows 8, didn't care much for it. This version seems more streamlined and indeed the excess has been done away with. Its almost like going back before the days of html. My windows are all simple lines, no shading, no fancy colors, just black and white text. You have to get rid of all the Microsoft 'spy' settings when you set it up, but that is okay. No way I want them to record my every move online in order to make my online experience more personal, just smoke and mirrors so they can see where you go and what you like in order to tailor ads to you, much like what Sparkpeople is doing now. There are interesting features with what you can do with Explorer, but not sure I would ever use them, but the good news is its much faster, doesn't get the error messages and doesn't bog down.
