Determined to get fit & stay fit

For years I have struggled with yo-yo dieting and as I get older, it gets harder to lose. Finally lost the 18 lbs that I initially wanted to lose, but now have about 7 back on. I would like to get it off again & be able to maintain. Also want to be more toned and fit. Love this great site to help keep you motivated. I've never been very athletic, but I have started running/jogging & love it. Ran/walked my first half-marathon in March 2010. Loved it & doing another one in November. Just ...

My Goals:
To lose down to the weight I feel best at & be able to maintain. I also want to be more toned and stronger than I've ever been.

5/25/08 - Finally down to 117.4
3.5 inches off waist
5 inches off hips
2 inches off thighs
Wow! When I look at my progress, I still can't believe it. With the strength training & cardio, I'm smaller now than when I was this same weight years ago.

My Program:
I am just trying to stay within my range of calories, running 3-4 miles twice during the week, then a long run on Sunday. Try to stay consistent cross-training on the elliptical or Jillian Michaels dvds. Also try to strength train at least twice a week.

Personal Information:
I am 48 yrs old and started out as of Jan 2008 weighing 136. I've lost & gained back 10-20 lbs many times in the past. I started out just cutting calories then found this site & it has made all the difference. As of the end of March 08, I have now lost 14 lbs,
3 inches - waist
2 inches - thighs
3.5 inches - hips
I hope in the next several months to be able to see some definition in my arms, tone those jiggly thighs (& lose some junk in the trunk) lol This is the first time I've ever done strength training & I am really loving it. After hitting 40, being toned sure seems to mean alot more!

Other Information:
Love working out, reading good books: Nora Roberts/J. D. Robb, James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, doing the Sunday crossword puzzles, and Fantasy Football!

Hi there! I am from San Antonio originally but am living elsewhere for school right now. I will be traveling back home for the race! That's funny about your last name, many people try to spell it Hagen or Hogan :). It was O'Hagan way back when. And no, I dont have a group...I tend to run these things alone so it would be great to see you all there!

Thanks for stopping by my photos. I did two rounds of P90X. The first time I followed the calendar pretty closely. However, I didn't have a pull-up bar, so I used the bands like they do in the videos. The second round, I started using the assisted pull-up machine at our gym instead of the bands, and WOW, what a difference! I didn't really follow the calendar as closely the second time, and I also threw in some ChaLean Extreme workouts with the P90X. It took me two rounds to see real results. I also didn't follow Tony's meal plan/program...I used Tom Venuto's Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle as my meal program. Definitely results worth talking about. Good luck and keep in touch.

Thank you so much! How is everything going? I have tried them all, New Balance, Asics, and now I wear Nike. I loved running with asics but now have switched to Nike because I have the Nike Plus that you put on your ipod (and a little device that is inserted into the shoes) it tells you how many miles you complete in a workout, calories, average pace - its a great tool!!
