2009 is my time to shine!!
Hi! I'm Natalie, I'm 22 years old and I'm a full-time college student. I became a member of sparkpeople a couple years ago, but I stopped using it after a few months. I moved into my first apartment, and I don't have access to internet at home anymore. I've been a yo-yo for the past year...I lost 15 pounds, then gained 25, lost 10, and gained 15 back. Right now, I have lost 20 pounds, and have been able to maintain that. I'm determined to continue my weight loss, finally meet my goal, and ...
I'm determined to continue my weight loss, finally meet my goal, and become a happier and healthier me.
So my story is...
I've always kind of been chubby. When I was 5, my parents put me in gymnastics and I continued doing that for 7 years. I loved being in gymnastics, and dreamt of being the next Dominique Moceanu. Unfortunately, when I was 12, my height shot up to 5'5 and the rest of my body filled out. I was the first girl in my class to wear a bra! My gymnastics coach told me I couldn't do it anymore because I was too tall and too thick- I wouldn't be able to get enough speed or height to do well.
So like Missy from Bring it on, I joined cheerleading in high school. I liked it, but it wasn't the same. On top of losing my favorite sport, I now had an over awareness of my bigger body. It was an issue I have since struggled with, always wishing I were skinnier.
I also played volleyball, softball and ran track in high school. I love playing sports, but I also love fast food and candy. When I was playing so much sports it didn't effect me that much. But since I graduated, my eating habits remained while I lost my sports. I went from being 36-24-36 and 122 pounds to 185 and a size 15 at my heaviest. I was horrified with myself! I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror.
So I started working out at the gym at school 3 times a week, cut out my beloved fast food and started cooking at home more. I lost 15 pounds in one month and then plateaued. I changed it up and started doing kickboxing, yoga and pilates, and lost another 5 pounds. And that brings us up to date with my journey so far.
So my plan is to eat more fruits, veggies, and lean protein like chicken, turkey and pork tenderloin.
I'm going to do at least 50 minutes of cardio; I'll begin with 3 days a week and then build up to 5 days a week.
For tone, I will use the weight room at school at least 2 days a week. I will also use kickboxing and yoga as well to keep it fresh and not so routine.
I also joined the volleyball team at school.
I will also reward myself when I meet small goals.

I consider myself an athletic person, I love playing tennis and volleyball, going swimming, riding my bike, and being outside. I play volleyball at school. I'm a full time student, majoring in psychology with a minor in health systems administration. I'm very involved at school, I'm a teacher's assistant, a tutor, in Psi Chi (a club), and a research assistant. I plan on working with children and adolescents, getting my MBA and eventually my Psy. D; hopefully having my own private practice. I love psych. I find it intellectually stimulating. I'm also on the Dean's List, with a 3.92. I love reading, watching movies, music, and going out with my friends. And if you haven't noticed, I love Marilyn, she's my inspiration.
