I live in Washington state with my husband. Home for me is in Alabama, where I grew up and lived until 7 years ago. For some time now I have been telling myself I was doing what I could to lose weight. But, truth be known I only seriously started around 6 weeks ago. That is when I started counting calories, getting up in the mornings (6 days) to do some sort of exercise for 30 to 45 minutes and exercising again in the evenings (5 days) for an hour. I feel so much better and actually look ...

1/3/08 Update
I am happy with my results since joining SP. Overall, including the month before joining SP I have lost 43 pounds. I feel better, have more energy and, according to friends and co-workers, looking good. I'm getting into clothes, I couldn't wear before. In fact, they are big and I am buying smaller sizes.

I have been on a plateau since right before Christmas and getting tired of it. But, I won't let myself become discouraged. I won't quit! Instead, I will work harder and watch what I eat more to get off this plateau.

It's exciting to think this time next year, I will be maintaining and not still working to lose. I am well aware I will still have to work to maintain but that's okay. This is my way of life now and I'm liking it.

7/23/08 One year update
Today is my Sparkiversary. It was one year ago today I found SparkPeople through MyPoints. I had been in the process of this lifestyle change for a month before that and was having great success. But, I wonder how long it would have continued of SparkPeople had not come into my life.

As of this morning I have lost a total of 58 pounds, 48 since joining SparkPeople. Also, as of this morning I have reached my first big goal of 175 pounds. In fact, I have passed it by a pound. I'm not sure how many inches since I didn't start off by measuring. But, the clothes size has changed by 2 to 3 sizes.

1/2/09 Update

Wow! Reading over my previous updates, especially July's will make this update a real disappointment. As of weigh in yesterday, since July's update there is only a 2 pound difference. WHAT!! My ticker says I weigh 169.5, but that was before the month of December and the holidays. I'm not changing my ticker, but last weigh in was 172. So, I have 1.5 pounds to lose to get back to where I was. I don't think that will be a problem. In fact, I am thinking my little bit of falling off track may get me back on the losing track. During the year of 2008 I lost 20 pounds. Not great, but it is still a loss. It is 20 pounds gone that weren't gone this time last year. 2008 was a year filled with hitting plateaus and losing, gaining and losing the same couple of pounds over and over again. I don't know what my goal weight is, I haven't set one. But, I am thinking if I can lose 20 pounds in 2009 I will be there or real close to it. Hopefully, this year it won't take the entire year to lose that 20 pounds. I got some great new DVD workouts for Christmas plus Fitness Coach for my Wii. These along with all my other DVDs, Wii Fit, Gazelle and recumbent bike should help me lose those 20 pounds in no time. At least, you would think so. This is my year! In 2009 I will be lookin' fine!

My Goals:
My goal for 2009 is to continue down this healthier path I started on the last half of 2007. My main goal is to stop losing the same 2 pounds over and over. My goal and motto for this year will be: Lookin' fine in 2009!

My Program:
I am counting calories, exercising twice a day (at least 5 days a week) drinking lots of water, limiting myself to 2 sodas per week, not eating after 8PM.

Other Information:
I am a collector. I collect Lucille Ball, mainly I Love Lucy, memorabilia. My kitchen, eating area &1/2 bath are decorated with my Lucy items. Except during the winter, when my kitchen along with the family room belong to my snowman collection. One of our guest bedrooms is decorated with my Eeyore collection. I, also, collect butterfly items which decorate the master bedroom & bath. Over the past 6 months I have started collecting workout DVDs & using them. It makes me very easy to shop for.

BJ, thank you for the goodie! I use my pedometer daily! My main exercise is yard work because it uses all my muscles in different way so the pedometer is a back up and my Sunday exercise source.
Thank you for encouraging me to get one. It is simple, only recording steps but I find it usable.
Thank you again for all your encouragement this past year. Hope you stay with us as we progress.
