Picking up Steps and Miles

I use to be out going and enjoyed the outdoors. I now have Lupus and am needing to encourage myself to get back out there. I am walking preferably on less sunny days or with full sun protection. I am also riding a stationary bike at home. My energy level is low compared to the past but working on getting better.

My Goals:
Increase my energy level and core strength. Learn to get out more and not let Lupus keep me down.

I have a goal to walk from my home to Greenlake. Around the lake and back home for a total of 5+ miles.

Become more sociable with the friends I have and the new people I have been meeting.

Spend more time on my creative projects in painting, cross stitch and sewing.

My Program:
Using a stationary bike at home currently a little over 40 minutes a day 2 times a week and I wish to increase the minutes to 50 or more. Walking at least 3 to 5 times a week and increasing the length and speed.
I also do strength exercises and stretches through out the week.

Personal Information:
I live in North Seattle and would enjoy meeting and walking with others at parks and similar. I like nature and enjoy being able to see birds, plants and nature.

Other Information:
I enjoy creating art, I paint, cross stitch and other crafts. I enjoy a variety of music: new age, world music, some jazz, rock and opera. The types of books I like to read are varied as well mostly historical, non-fiction and variety of others.

I do hope you check out my new team and join up. The whole point of it is that it's easy to overwhelm ourselves by trying to be perfect; instead I'm hoping people will make little changes and take small steps every day - it isn't nearly as difficult to make the smaller changes and you'll still reach your goals.

For instance, one person has decided for today she will give more compliments and spread joy as a way of doing better - this helps her and others around her feel better which will lead to healthier choices. My doing better for today was to be concise while meeting with a new doctor so I could get the answers I needed. My appointment turned out well because I did this.
