Hello everybody..My name is Carol and welcome to my Sparkpage! What a journey it has been!! On March 2, 2010 I weighed 240+ lbs. I found myself at 55 years of age lying in CCU in a hospital. I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, & was stressed to the max. Luckily my heart was okay, but my cardiologist questioned where I would be in 10 years if I didn't drastically change my life!! Upon my release, I decided it was time to take control of my life. I immediately started on a journey to develop a healthy lifestyle, & I was determined nothing was going to stop me from reaching my goal!! I started walking for exercise, & watching what I ate by counting calories and trying to eat a healthy, balanced diet. All went well & by August 2010, I had lost a total of 35 lbs....but something seemed to be missing! While I had the support of family & friends, for the most part I felt that I was alone on my journey. That is until my doctor recommended I check out the website called Sparkpeople.com!! It changed my life!! Never before had I experienced the support & resources that I have found here. 10 months after joining Sparks, in April of 2011, I met my ultimate goal. . I have reached my goal weight and now have a normal BMI. My blood pressure is normal, and cholesterol has been lowered! I continued into the maintenance phase of my journey with my feet firmly planted in Sparkpeople, & with all my wonderful Sparkfriends at my side!! I have successfully maintained my weight loss for over 2 years!! For me this is probably the most important and difficult part of my journey! I now must break the vicious cycle of yo-yo dieting that I have dealt with most of my adult life! This time, with the help of Sparkpeople, I will win the battle! 120 lbs later.... GOODBYE YO-YO DIETER....you are OUTTA HERE!! Thank you sparkpeople for giving me my life back!!

I'm a 59+ year old female from America's heartland--Kansas. I have been employed in the aircraft industry for the past 23 years. Always an animal lover I am the proud mama to a Chug, 2 Japanese Chins, and a rescue kitty Lucky. I am married to my loving partner who I have been with for the
past 29 years.
This is how I Ifound Spark people. I woke up in a hospital bed in CCU in March of 2010, hospitilized for chest pains. I weighed 230+lbs, had high cholesteral & high blood pressure. Luckily my heart was okay & I was diagnosed with stress which caused the chest pains. My doctors advised me to lose weight & get active. Being in CCU was the most humiliating experience of my life.. You don't put a 240 lb person on a bed pan with good results!! I was determined to do whatever it took to prevent ending up in that place again. Upon being released from the hospital I immediately started walking for exercise & watching my calories, sodium, & fat intake. At a doctors appointment in August 2010 I had lost 40 lbs, but it was hard sustaining the enthusiasm & determination I had upon my initial release from the hospital. My Dr. told me about the web site for Spark people & here I am. I look forward to a long wonderful relationship with Spark people!!

Carol, blessings today and always! I just want to share some thoughts about life.\ from Mother Teresa who has truly inspired me and continues to motivate me to become a better person.
Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is a beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it. '
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is life, fight for it.
I will continue living each day with an attitude of gratitude. So many opportunities await us if we only choose to become involved by truly living life fully one day at a time.
So blessed and happy to be your friend

During my morning mediation and prayer time, I realized something very important......ATTITUDE. Do I truly have an Attitude of Gratitude? It's time for me to realize that my ATTITUDE toward the life I'm living and the people in it can have a tangible,. measurable and profound effect on what happens to me day by day. If I expect good, then surely good will come to me. If I try to each day to base my attitude and point of view on a spiritual foundation, I know it will change all the circumstances of my life for the better. Through daily communion with God my spirituality will be maintained.
During this month of November which celebrates THANKSGIVING may you and I remember to have an Attitude of Gratitude.......and may we continue to have it 365 days a year!
I am so thankful you are my
