118 lbs lost...Goal met!! GOODBYE YO-YO DIETER!!
Hello everybody..My name is Carol and welcome to my Sparkpage! What a journey it has been!! On March 2, 2010 I weighed 230+ lbs. I found myself at 55 years of age lying in CCU in a hospital. I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, & was stressed to the max. Luckily my heart was okay, but my cardiologist questioned where I would be in 10 years if I didn't drastically change my life!! Upon my release, I decided it was time to take control of my life. I immediately started on a journey ...
I immediately started on a journey to develop a healthy lifestyle, & I was determined nothing was going to stop me from reaching my goal!! I started walking for exercise, & watching what I ate by counting calories and trying to eat a healthy, balanced diet. All went well & by August 2010, I had lost a total of 35 lbs....but something seemed to be missing! While I had the support of family & friends, for the most part I felt that I was alone on my journey. That is until my doctor recommended I check out the website called Sparkpeople.com!! It changed my life!! Never before had I experienced the support & resources that I have found here. 10 months after joining Sparks, in April of 2011, I met my ultimate goal. . I have reached my goal weight and now have a normal BMI. My blood pressure is normal, and cholesterol has been lowered! I continued into the maintenance phase of my journey with my feet firmly planted in Sparkpeople, & with all my wonderful Sparkfriends at my side!! I have successfully maintained my weight loss for 21 months!! For me this is probably the most important and difficult part of my journey! I now must break the vicious cycle of yo-yo dieting that I have dealt with most of my adult life! This time, with the help of Sparkpeople, I will win the battle! GOODBYE YO-YO DIETER....you are OUTTA HERE!! Thank you sparkpeople for giving me my life back!!

Other Information:
This is how I Ifound Spark people. I woke up in a hospital bed in CCU in March of 2010, hospitilized for chest pains. I weighed 230+lbs, had high cholesteral & high blood pressure. Luckily my heart was okay & I was diagnosed with stress which caused the chest pains. My doctors advised me to lose weight & get active. Being in CCU was the most humiliating experience of my life.. You don't put a 230 lb person on a bed pan with good results!! I was determined to do whatever it took to prevent ending up in that place again. Upon being released from the hospital I immediately started walking for exercise & watching my calories, sodium, & fat intake. At a doctors appointment in August 2010 I had lost 40 lbs, but it was hard sustaining the enthusiasm & determination I had upon my initial release from the hospital. My Dr. told me about the web site for Spark people & here I am. I look forward to a long wonderful relationship with Spark people!!
