GAME. ON.

I'm back yet again for I think the 3rd or 4th time in the past few years....Thankfully not back up to the weight I was when I first first joined, but unfortunately still hovering around 170 (approx 26% BF).

I'm back yet again for I think the 3rd or 4th time in the past few years....Thankfully not back up to the weight I was when I first first joined, but unfortunately still hovering around 170 (approx 26% BF).

This time, though a lot has changed in my life. I'm no longer in a university setting, I'm living abroad, I have lots of free time, and I have no competitive sport performance effects to factor in. PLUS I have 2 young girls that I take care of who I need to set a healthy example for.

With all these changes and a whole year away from home, I have recommitted to Sparkpeople with a much more realistic sense of how weight loss works. In the past, I have been obsessed with losing 20lbs in 2 months through a super strict diet so that I can go back to eating normally, only skinnier. I have come to realize that that is really not how it works, which is why I've consistently failed to get down past 160, and still more consistently find myself back up at 171lbs.

This time, I've set my goal to only 1lb a week, and have given myself the whole rest of this year to get down to my dream weight of 145. This will not only alllow for fluctuations from slip-ups, hormones, body adjustments, etc., but more importantly, it will give me time to tackle my disfunctional relationship with food so that I can stay at 145 without having to constantly be keeping myself in check and tracking everything I eat. I don't want to be controlled by my food addiction anymore, and I am finally ready to live a life where I don't have to talk myself out of eating half the tray of brownies...instead I want a life where it doesn't even occur to me that I would want to eat more that one in a sitting!

After having tracked for a few weeks now, I know exactly what my problem is, and I am now taking steps to change the habits that are holding me back from my dream body and my dream life - I hope you too can come to this kind of realization much sooner than I did!!

here's starting 8 months of commitment! ...C'EST PARTI!!

Your idea to track everything in the morning is really good, I actually have been doing that too and it's helping, so thanks for the suggestion! I've also been trying not to eat past 730 (after dinner) so if I get bored and want to eat I have some hot tea and that distracts me til the craving has passed. Well I am visiting my best friend in Tampa, Florida and a few of my super-fit girl friends are coming down too and I want to surprise them all and look fantastic! I just want to start 2011 off with a healthy/feeling fabulous bang haha! What about you? What is your main goal?

I hope you don't mind that I added you to my 'friends'! I'm also trying to do a New Years Challenge... Of course I would leave it until now to begin, with all the holiday food! I have cravings for sweets also.. Sugar Free Popsicle seem to help. Anyway, good luck, keep me updated, hopefully it will keep me going strong!
