Sugar, Why Can't I Quit You?

My mom was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes on 5/14 and it was really a wake up call for the whole family. My family is predisposed to a lot of weight related diseases, so it really was just a matter of time. So she doesn't have to change her diet alone and to possibly prevent my being diagnosed with a weight related disease, I've decided to start using SparkPeople again.

My Goals:
My goal is to try to loose a pound or two a week.

Also:

~To get in better shape so I can exercise 5 days a week.

~To become more flexible. A mini-goal is to be able to easily grab the top of my foot while doing a quad stretch.

~To strenghten my core muscles in hopes it will lessen or get rid of lower back pain.

More goals as I think of them.

My Program:
I used to be more active on this site and managed to lose 40 pounds. Then I got lazy. So, I'm starting all over again. Rome wasn't built in a day, after all!

Personal Information:
I'm from North Carolina and currently a college student working toward my Medical Lab Tech degree.

I have an 8-year-old niece that I'm trying to raise the best way I can. I also have two cats, Kizzy and Evie. I live on my parent's farm, so there's very seldom a dull moment thanks to the Wild Kingdom.

Other Information:
My weight ticker reflects that I'm setting a goal of losing 10% of my weight at a time until I reach my final goal of around 150 pounds.

Just drop by to see how you were doing. It looks like the ticker is moving in the right direction. Even with the pound gain this week.

Was wondering how you were getting on with stage 2?

Schweet. I hope you can find some stuff on SparkPeople to help you meet your goals. I like a lot of what I see here, and it seems to be a great place to get what you actually need instead of what other people need.
