My Goals:
To fit into a size Large dress, pants and/or blouse (we're not talking Lane Bryant Large - which seems more like an XL) before 2013.

Short-Term Goal (Summer 2012): Lose four more pounds by July 27.

My Program:
Exercise 20 to 45 minutes a day. Some days this will be a slow walk with the dog, or swimming at the local pool, or a high intensity bike ride. Get my five fruits and veggies a day. Stay with in the Spark recommended range for calories, fiber, carbs, etc.

Personal Information:
Recently, I developed high cholesterol and acid reflux most likely as a result of my weight. I want to control both of these with diet and exercise and will only take medication if my doctor tells me it is the only way.

Other Information:
Favorite Movie: Motorcycle Diaries
Favorite Podcast: NPR's AltLatino
Favorite Green Thing: Pesto

I just read your comments on my blog. The "dropping acid" book is written by some ENT doctors who found that many patients with voice problems actually have reflux. The recipes are NOT basic and the food list is incomplete but it has some good basic ideas. It includes a two week induction period where you don't eat anything with a pH of less than 5. They differentiate between acid foods and some other foods that may just cause reflux.
They have a blog: http://www.refluxcookbookblog.com/

I don't have night time reflux, more afternoon. Laying down is not a problem, I feel best when I wake up in the am. Tomatoes, chocolate, the list of stuff not to eat are all my favorites.

Good luck

Hi! Thanks for your comments on my blog! I guess that to the rest of the world I do look like a risk-taker, but when I was writing that I was thinking more of physical risks--I passed up the opportunity to ride an elephant in Thailand, for example, because I was afraid that I would not be able to get on it. (Getting on camel in India was a horrifyingly embarrassing affair).

Men here LOVE me and my body, which is weird as a girl who has always, even at my thinnest, been loved for my sense of humor and my personality, not my looks. I have not noticed any damper in their ardor as I have lost weight, but I am still a size 20, not in danger of wasting away at any time soon! It is disconcerting, but flattering, to be so appreciated. It took a couple of months before it really sunk in that yes, they were serious, they really do find me attractive like this. It's good for the ego, for sure, although I have not really met anyone I would be interested in dating.

Thank you also for your comment on my picture. Objectively I know I am attractive, but I've spent my whole life being the fat, funny friend; old habits die hard.

emoticon for joining the "Writers' Support Group" team. I wish you much success with your weight loss. Take things one healthy meal, one exercise, one positive day at a time and always believe in yourself you can do this, one pound at a time. emoticon -- Lou
