1-1-2014 - I can't decide if I want to track my progress in this introduction or on a series of blogs. Today I'm opting for the blog.

7-24-13 - We took a little trip over the weekend and we went swimming one evening, some just floating and playing around, but some swimming laps, too. Then the next day we walked a couple of nature trails, 2.5 miles total. This morning I went walking with a neighbor, 1.8 miles. So I'm up and moving again for right now.

7-17-2013 - I'm thinking about Newton's law of physics and the commercial for whatever it is that uses the phrase about "a body at rest tends to stay at rest and a body in motion tends to stay in motionĒ unless acted upon by an outside force. Well I need an outside force to give me a swift kick in the seat of the pants!

In the past two weeks or so, I received a Nook as a gift, so of course I had to download and read books on it. I spent most of four days in a row in the car. I spent a large part of three days cleaning our church, with a little help, and was then too exhausted to wiggle. And my left foot was so sore I could hardly walk on it. It felt like something was dis-located. Anyway, it's been real easy to sit and very difficult to get up and walk.

I had committed to do a virtual 5K this week, and I had planned to do it on Friday morning. But now that isnít going to work out, so I did it this afternoon. Iím up and moving again.

6-19-2013 - I weighed this morning and I am less today than I have been in two months. I am walking at least three times a week, have signed up for water aerobics three times a week (if we don't have storms because the pool is outside), I've done more yard work already this summer than I probably did all of last summer together.

I am feeling good about my work load at the office and at home, though there's still some stuff to get caught up. And I am sleeping good. I am drinking a lot of water but lately I haven't been getting up in the night to go to the bathroom. Don't know if the walking would have anything to do with that or not.

6-13-2013 - I'm copying this format from Maggierosebowl. If you aren't familiar with her story check it out. She's amazing!

Yesterday I had a cardiac stress test. It turned out fine, which is a good thing! But I was so scared about doing it (I imagined myself being rushed immediately to the hospital for surgery), and the fact that my husband insisted on going along with me, and the fact that afterward he thanked the Lord for the good results indicated he was scared, too. Knowing that there isn't, yet, any irreversible damage, being scared that there was, means it's time to get serious with fitness.

So I am training for a virtual 5K the week ending July 20.

Happy Sunday! Congrats on your training to your 5K walk! I am walking the track at River Bends Park in Shelby Township. The trail is 1.6 miles around, with some hills. I usually do three or four times around the trail. emoticon

Hi Aunty! I have done the 5K already as I am so excited and ready to train for our 5K in July; but also gear up for running eventually. I signed up for the walk yesterday. Happy Trails, my friend! emoticon

Mapping the route is what I did for the previous 5Ks I did a couple of years ago. But I went over to the bike route to train and do the 5K. I have signed up but haven't decided where I will do the 5K (although I will probably do the training around the neighborhood using the Maps for my distance. There is a bike path that runs along the turnpike which I might use for my 5K. I would have drive to it, but that way I won't have to worry about traffic or crossing streets.

May have to check into that. I haven't done a 5K since moving so not sure where I could do it (or train for it) My be able to use the track at Southeast.
