Enjoying retirement. I have so many things I want to do on my "limited" funds. It will be 3 years this December since I have retired.
I want to learn to garden. I need to learn how to deal with the excessive heat and the dogs in the backyard.
Both of our kids are still living at home, so I still get to run Mom's taxi service.
Both my Mom and my mother-in-law have passed away in the same nursing home. Different times. I am contemplating how to volunteer/visit some of the the residents there. Since I'm sort of shy/introverted-it is difficult for me to just visit people I don't know well. I'll need to psych myself up for it~since I know people in nursing homes can get real lonely.

OLDER INFORMATION
I'm married with 2 kids, one biological and one adopted. I did not get married until I was 30; therefore, I'm one of those who is caught in the middle of caring for young children and an aging parent with medical issues. I tend to leave my physical fitness on the bottom of my priority list because its difficult to make one's self exercise when it does not seem to be "fun" and one often runs out of time and energy.

It will be a year since my Mom passed away at the end of May. I miss talking with her.

My Goals:
I'd just like to remember to take time for myself and work fitness into my regular schedule.
When I weigh myself too often, I used to feel as if it made me more preoccupied with food, rather than behaving better. My current plan is to start weighing myself in order to work on not gaining weight - and losing slowly. What I lose I don't want to gain back. I want to make life long habits of eating healthier and exercising.

Remember to:
1. Drink water daily
2. Record what I eat
3. Think before eating
4. Walk dog(s)
5. Cook healthier foods
6. Limit portions

My Program:
I'm still at the planning stage. With a husband and two kids, most things need to be scheduled in order for them to have a chance of being successful.

Now that my kids are getting older I'm going to do some more serious thinking on how I can incorporate regular exercise into my day.

I'm considering planning to walk a dog after my son goes to bed - mornings don't work for me since getting two kids off to school is time consuming - no bus service so I get to drive them daily. I do enjoy the talk time.

Thanks AUNTCAT! Unfortunately it probably is permanent, so I'm on the hunt for a new job. I've never been out of work for more than a month or so, so hopefully that trend will continue now. The hardest part is my old office was casual, and all my interview/work clothes are wayyyy too big, so I have to go buy new ones! Good problem to have I guess.

So glad you've joined the Loving Our Kidneys team! We are a fairly active team - we share a lot of info about kidney disease. We find them in the news or at one of the many kidney disease specific web sites. So, besides being social, I find the team a learning experience.

Stop by and tell us about yourself!

I am SOOOO wishing my son would take an interest in completing his school work. His grades definitely do NOT show how smart he is. emoticon

    What do we love about Christmas;
Does our delight reside in things?
Or are the feelings in our hearts
The real gift that Christmas brings.

    It's seeing those we love,
    And sending Christmas cards, too,
Appreciating people who bring us joy
    Special people just like you.

    Merry Christmas!
    Hugs,
    Jo Ann
