How many chances does one person get? I guess until I get where I'm going. So, I'm back.

My partner of ten years and I had been doing amazingly well with the weight loss, we had started running, had done a 5k and a 10k and were working towards running a half-marathon in May 2012 - we had even paid the $75 per person registration. Then, in November of 2011, right after our 7.5k trail run, we started to fall off the wagon again. We made a pact to get back on track in the new year, and then on Christmas Eve, she developed pneumonia. After a couple of weeks, she was almost recovered, and then I got sick - also pneumonia. I spent a week with a fever that fluctuated between 102 and 105 degrees, coughing up blood and barely being able to make the few steps required to get to the bathroom. On January 30th, 2012, the night I finally packed my bags to go back to the gym, I rolled my ankle and broke it - tearing the syndesmotic ligament in the process.
I was in a cast for 8 weeks, and my ankle wasn't strong enough to run on when I could finally walk. We didn't make our half-marathon, and we stopped running. We tried in the spring to start running again, but both of us had gained so much weight that running was too painful and frustrating to keep doing.

I'm telling all of this as an explanation, but it is not an excuse. I could have kept up the healthy eating, but I didn't. I could have found another form of exercise, but I didn't.

We're back on track now, eating healthier, walking after work - we adopted a puppy last summer, and she does need to be walked, after all :-). We're starting to get back into running, and have registered for 2 5ks this year in August and September as motivation.
